Brand new, looks good but think very carefully before moving here

Claremont is a new complex for mature active adults. It's been open since May of 2003 and it is a very attractive community. However, there are a lot of problems.
The halls are filthy. The management blames the residents (their answer to most problems) but the truth is the halls are rarely swept, even more rarely washed. The first floor gets the most wear and tear and the most attention, the 2nd and 3rd floors almost none. Someone has a dog that pees in the hallway and elevator EVERY day and no one in management seems to care. Nor do they or anyone else clean it up.
The original landscaping was very attractive but some of it didn't take and it has not been replaced. The open courtyards have a problem with drainage and they are muddy and have standing water. (Think mosquitos) No one has weeded them all summer.
The maintenance people are very nice but I've never had a request that didn't take at least two phone calls to get it done. Some have never been attended to.
The complex seems to have been built without any kind of sound proofing. People on the 1at and 2nd floors hear everything that goes on above them. Again, the management blames the residents--for walking around in their apartments, for flushing the toilet late at night...
The ant problem is incredible! There is supposed to be regular pest control but they are helpless to deal with these ants. I don't mean just in your kitchen, in your food. There are ants in the bathrooms, ants in the closets, ants in the bed, ants everywhere. This has been going on for months,I've tried buying ant buttons and other ant control things but nothing so far has worked.
The swimming pool is lovely, the patio furniture is new and luxurious. However, the pool is only 3 ft. deep. It's a little deeper in the center, maybe 3 1/2 foot deep. This is not a pool. You can't swim in it. Like so many things here, it looks good but is a big disappointment.
They advertise that they have computers with online access for the residents to use but they are messed up and unuseable a good deal of the time.
In the short time Claremont has been open they have had two management companies and several managers which probably accounts for some of the problems.
