I've been living here for about 8 months now. If you're reading this, you're probably not rich. You're probably looking for a decent apartment for as cheap as you can find it. That's the spot my girlfriend and I were in when we found this place. We'd been through some pretty crappy places before because of our financial situation, and spent the extra 25 bucks a month to try this place out. Those crappy places include: Hidden Hollow(across the street from here, STAY AWAY! unless you like drugs and prostitutes), Pioneer Park(crappy management, water shut off every other day, not the best area crimewise), and Cooper Crossing(used to be horrible from what i hear, but they say they've changed management and are better now. NOPE, they may have tried to change, but the same people that liked the apt before- criminals, etc- still like the apt, and still live there/roam the area. our cars were broken into 3 times during 2 months).
Overall, this apt complex is FAR FAR better than any of the ones listed above. crime is pretty low, just don't park too close to cooper. very well lit, and they like to keep it that way. another factor is that the police are always in the parking lot for speed traps on cooper. i think that's the real reason it's so safe here.
Management has been ok. The previous apt manager was really nice and got stuff done fast. He really cared about you. He moved because of school. The current manager is nice, but seems to still be trying to get used to things or something. If you need something done, submit it in writing. Otherwise she tends to forget. Matinence is pretty good if you submit your request in writing as well.
The apt itself is pretty nice. Good size for a good price. Has a fireplace which is nice during the winter. They also let you paint your walls and redo your counters if you want. And if you sign a 2 year contract, they replace the carpet for you.
My only problem with the apt: our car was broken into last night. I think it was a part of a recent rash of buglaries on Cooper, if that's any consolation to you. And it was on Easter night no less. I mean, anywhere you go there's going to be some crime. But it still annoys me either way.
Overall crime isn't bad. The previous apt manager was even considering moving into the apt with his expectant wife. My overall opinion is if you can afford better, get it. If you can't, this is an alright place to live till you can afford better. The best of the lower class apartments I guess.
