I did not have a good experience with the Carlyle Apartments. When I moved here, this was my first time renting an apartment. I didn't know much about what to look for on a walk through. My wife and I didn't have a written budget, and the Carlyle was cheap enough that I knew we could afford the rent. I did a 5 minute walk through of my apartment and then signed the lease. The day I moved in, I noticed a lot of small ---- roaches throughout the apartment. I also noticed a strange smell in my kitchen. When I was putting my dishes and pots away, I found a large infestation in my kitchen cabinets. There were thousands of dead roaches in the corners of the cabinets and roach feces throughout. I asked the apartment management to have someone come clean the cabinets out and they told me they would not do it. I ended up cleaning them myself and I spent about $100 of my own money over the next 2 months getting the roach problem under control. We couldn't cook in our kitchen, so we spent another $150 eating out for every meal until we got the roaches under control. If the roaches smelled food, they would come out as if someone had wrung the dinner bell. The infestation was so bad, I had to have my dishwasher removed and replaced because I couldn't get all the roach feces off of it. Over the next 2 months my wife and I dealt with minor respiratory issues as a result of the infestation. I've seen roaches throughout the entire apartment complex regularly. The apartment management is nice, but I feel that they are lacking in basic manners and customer service. I was able to get rid of the cockroaches in my apartment with baits, gels, boric acid, sprays, and foggers. I also asked the management to send their exterminator when I noticed new roaches in my apartment. Since the complex is infested, roaches will come back into your apartment. They will literally walk under your door from the hall way no matter how clean you are. It's a constant battle to keep them at bay. I wish I had taken more time to inspect my apartment before I moved in, and I wish I had seen the reviews of this complex on this site. I now know that my issues were not isolated, but rather a small pieces of the overall roach infested pie. Crime is also an issue here. I've seen numerous cars vandalized. The apartment management also sent out notices to all residents asking for help in getting the criminal activity under control. I could not in good faith recommend this complex to anyone. Please do yourself a favor and write out a budget and don't be lured in by the cheap rent. It's cheap for a reason. an awful 6 legged reason.

This site should be strictly prohibited! People are some dumb now in days that they dont even read what they sign. Every single apt ive lived in has been thourghly walked and inspected before signing lease contracts. If this apt were indeed infested im pretty sure you couldve had noticed it in the 5 min walk thru. Infested apts always have visivle problem if its infested with roaches. Are you sure that you didnt bring the roaches with you? And as far as crime goes ...its everywhere! Shopping centers, gas stations...apts in north dallas..garland etc...Face it we are in a financial crises and people are desperate for fast cash. Management usually sends out these letters to alert there residents of what is happening..which to me seems pretty nice....PLEASE RESEARCH BEFORE SIGNING LEASE! AND DONT GO BASED ON MEAN REVIEWS POSTED ON THIS WEBSITE MY UPSET TENANTS BECAUSE YOULL FIND OUT THAT THE STUFF SAID IS NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

The above post is an example of the attitude you'll deal with when interacting with the management at the Carlyle Apartments. Don't rent at the Carlyle Apartments. They have a major roach problem. Its funny how most of the reviews all sound about the same.

I don't even live in this apartment and can tell the response is from management. You can hear the anger. Only the guilty get defensive...
