The Ghettos of Sendera

Worst place ever! It is truly a shame that this complex has turned into such a slum. The Laurels of Senders (Formerly Savannah Club) was a unique apartment community unlike any others. Professional management staff, top notch maintenance, and very well maintained with total focus on providing the tenants with a unique and very pleasant environment. Well, as practically anyone who lives there now can attest to, that is not the case today and further, it is quite possibly one of the worst properties in Tarrant County!

Lets begin with the management staff (or lack of it). The management team (and I use the term loosely), are the epitome of incompetence. They show a complete disrespect for the tenants and appear to be completely uninterested in taking care of the property. This can be verified by simply driving thru the parking lot past the front of the property (they keep the curb front pretty nice because its visible from the street). You'll see first hand the condition of the parking lot, damaged buildings, rain gutters, trash, etc... This is pretty much the norm for this property. Also, it's worth noting that the staff is very nice and accommodating if you don't live there and are thinking about moving in. That nice and accommodating attitude changes dramatically once the lease has been signed!

Next, let's talk a little about the alleged amenities. The weight room is a joke. There is simply no other way to describe it. The machines are broken with no plans of repair and the room is filthy. Again, this is normal operating procedure for this complex. I have heard from others that the neighborhood kids hang out in the room and may have urinated on the floors and the walls. Another aspect of the property that the management refuses to address.

Next, lets talk about the pools. This is by far the most irritating aspect of apartment life at the Laurels. First, the pools are usually closed. Thats right, closed! As a matter of fact, they are closed now (5-15-06)(chained and padlocked) when we have clearly had many hot days. Why are the pools closed at all' All other pools on the street are open and for the most part never close. The pools at The Laurels are closed much more than they are open and further, the management staff has decided to only open the pools when they feel inclined to do so. When confronted about this fictional policy, they say that its the management companys policy (Greystar) or that the City of Arlington has not inspected the facilities. Of course, the city knows nothing about this; we checked! Basically, the management staff lies to the residents and dont really seem to care about anything. Its worth pointing out that the pools did not open last year until mid July!!! They were closed again in September for the whole season and are still closed. They were closed many times between July and September as well. We also have a hot tub at The Laurels, another joke. This tub amounts to nothing more than a urine pool for the kids (when the pools are open that is), and it also never works.

Next, lets talk briefly about maintenance. Quite simply, there isnt any. There is one maintenance person and a helper. Although they truly seem to try there best, this property is 230 units with practically all of them in serious need of repair. Are you starting to get the picture' If youre still not convinced, I would very much recommend that you talk to some of the residents that currently reside in the complex. This is another management failure.

Its my understanding that in todays leasing market, perspective residents must undergo a rigorous background check. Although I do not have any evidence in support of my upcoming statement, it appears they are and have been allowing some pretty undesirable people to move into the complex only to fill vacancies. My reason for making such a statement is that I have noticed a sharp increase in the crime rate within the complex over the last several months and also the frequency of police visits. Again I attribute these problems to a complete disregard by the management to effectively manage the property and provide a safe and pleasant environment for the tenants.

In short, my advice to anyone considering a move to The Laurels of Sendera, dont do it until you are sure that the present management staff has been replaced and that the property is repaired and maintained.
