Not Worth The Money

I've lived in a two-bedroom apartment for nine months. The apartment is nice enough -- nothing special -- but my electric bill is HUGE, and I'm hardly ever here. I turn everything off when I'm not here, and I always turn the thermostat way low, but my bills are huge. I also have a problem with the air conditioning/heating not really working in one room -- nothing really comes out of the vent -- and maintenance has not been able to figure this out. The apartment is drafty and on cold nights can be quite uncomfortable. In fact, I've complained about it, and all they've done is come in, and tilted the vent slats in another direction, as if no one had thought to do that already. Maintenance always comes out the same day, but they don't really do much, and they always seem to misunderstand what the problem is. And you have to call a number at some unspecified location to file maintenance requests, and the people who take the calls never really do a good job of explaining the scope of the problem to the onsite maintenance crew.
Also, they property doesn't do regular maintenance well -- like changing air filters. And the folks in the office -- if you can ever find them -- are of little help. Most of the time, there's never anyone in there and they always seem really stressed out. Overall, this apartment is WAAY overpriced, and I'm terrified to find out what it will cost me to renew for six months, which is what I'm going to have to do soon.
But the place at least looks nice, and you feel like you're in a better-than-average complex..That's some comfort when you're shivering in your bed.
