Pleasant complex to nightmare

I lived at Legacy Point for 71/2 years. Life here was pleasant until the new managment company took over in the fall of 07. Since that time conditions did not just go downhill, they fell off a cliff. Here are some examples of atrocious service:

- dec07/Jan08. Two leasing reps knocked on my door and announced they were from the Office.. I said OK how can I help you. They said we need to talk and wanted to come inside (the word please was never used). The two individuals accused me of renting without a lease and underpaying rent. I told them I renewed my lease two months ago and to double check my file. They said they had already done this and there was no current lease. After twenty minutes of pleading one of the two women went back and checked...she returned ten minutes later, whispered something to the other lady after which they both proceeded to my front door saying they had the wrong apt....not 'sorry we have the wrong apt'....no apology whatsoever.

- needed to have the downstairs toilet fixed....repairman showed up said he fixed the problem but problem remained... several days later a different repairman showed up and worked the problem till later in the evening. When i awoke the next morning the bottom floor of the apt. was flooded....carpet soaked, water covering Kitchen floor....even leaked into the garage. This permanently stained the carpet and caused the kitchen tiles to warp.

- Mar08 Two leasing agents show up asking if I wanted to renew my lease (three months b4 expiration of current lease) . Expressed surprise at the percentage increase (3-4 times previous increases) but said I would think about it. Then one lady said If I did not sign now the price would go up ( can't remember the exact amount but somewhere around $25 per month). This means if I signed a new lease the week b4 the current lease expired I would end up paying $75 more per month than they quoted me three months earlier.....there is a word for this.

- Under previous management property was well policed of litter. After new management I saw the same litter not picked up for days.

- Mar/apr08 Went to the office to pay the rent. Only one person in the office so opened door to drop off check and the mgr. said step out... I held up the check (she was on the phone) and she said STEP OUT AND SHUT THE DOOR......again the word please was never used.

Well I finally decided to move out middle of May 08. About 6 weeks later I received a letter from legacy saying I owed $371 in addition to forfeiting my deposit.
what did I owe for, well a good chunk was for the stained carpet and damaged kitchen tiles caused by the flooding described above. Also charged for removing items I had left. What I left was some cleaning supplies under the kitchen and bathroom counters.. also charged me for clearing left items in the garage....that would be a broom and dustpan....thought the cleaning supplies and broom and dustpan would be of benefit to the make ready crew. Also charged for filthy bathroom....I had a cleaning service come in every two weeks for seven years and the place was very well kept and clean.

I called legacy about this bill....they said it was out of their hands and to call the corporate offices.....I did....four times it was leave a message, the person I needed to talk to was out of town (left voice mail), the person was out of the office (left my # with her associate....The person was on the other line ...again left message with associate requesting call back.

Since I never heard from corporate for going on five months I figured they looked into my complaint left on voice mail and absolved me of this matter. Well I thought wrong. The second week of Dec 08 I received a letter from a collection company saying to pay up the $371 or my credit rating would suffer consequences.

Future renters beware

PS the previous comments about electric bills are fact. I now live in a new apt with 100 more sq ft and my electric bill is less than half of what I payed at Legacy

May I ask where you moved? My electric bill is ridiculous. We have a power surge almost everyday at St.Andrews down the street. I'm sure that has something to do with the high electric bill.
