Lies and Deception to get you to sign a lease.
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 9/4/2003
Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2003
Let me share my nightmere with you so you can see what qualified managment runs this property.
March 8,2003 was shown an apartment . I liked it alot and told her I thought it would be what we wanted but we needed to discuss it and would let her know by Monday. Quoted monthly rent included a garage which was manditory to our moving into this or any property was $681.00.
March 13, 2003 took a check of $100.00 for Deposit for apt. They already had leased it but bottom unit would be available for move in 28th of March. It was still occupied so we would not be able to see it but was the same flooplan as above apt.
Went to sign lease on March 19th on the lease Paragraph 6: $770.00 Prorated Rent of $99.35 is due for the remainder of the month. Paragrah 10: W/D $25.00 (which states under Amenadies is included), Total amount due on the 1st of every month $805.00 crossed out and above that is $795.00. When trying to go over this lease with us, the phone constantly was ringing and she was answering calls, had 3 people waiting to talk to her. Needless to say, She was hurring us threw .Although,we signed the lease, we did not agree with all the figures and did not understand were she got them. We figured we would be able to go back over the lease with her at a better time without any interruptions. We think, she knew what she was doing. All's she was conerned with was getting that leased signed. We set this up to meet and go over this at 2:00 so there should have been no interruptions.
Apartment was to be ready for my husband pick up keys at opening on the 28 of March. Had to wait approximatly 2 hours before getting the keys and she did not have time to talk with him. Gave her a check for $77.00 prorated rent for the remainder of the month which on the lease Paragraph 6 states $99.35. Was given the keys but told it wouldn't be ready till 4:00PM. She knew he goes to work at 4:00PM therefore would not be able to see the Apt. till Sat.
I had my car packed up and went over to clean the apt. before moving all our stuff as I am a Housekeeper for an Apt. Property and I am very picky. When I pulled up to the apt. I didn't know where to park as she never discussed it and I think we were to be assigned a covered parking space. I put my key into open the door and it did not fit. I twisted the door nob to find that it had been left unlocked. Didn't bother to call and tell me apt. would be left unlocked. Went in and not 1 door was hung or even there except front and back. My Inventory Condition Form is half way full of things that didn't get done and needed to be done. Needless to say, I could not unload my car as I didn't want to leave my stuff overnight with the door unlocked.
On Sat. March 29,2003 My Husband and I went over to talk to someone about the conditions of Apt.,lease, parking and to find out which garage was ours. First, went to apt. to show my husband. Opened our apt. door only to find it was locked. Used the keys given to us and they did not work. Went to the office and on the door is a note saying they would be closed till Mon. March 31,2003. She did not notify or bother to inform my husband of this Friday when he picked up the keys. So here we are locked out, no garage, a rental truck at our old apt full ready to be moved and she would not be available to talk to till Monday. We paged security and maintenance both hopeing someone could tell us something or help us. The maint. guy came walking up and gave us a working set of keys. We then asked about what garage was assingned to us and he knew nothing about us having a garage. Then said, they didn't even have one available. That was the last straw. We did not move in. Thank god our old apt. hadn't already been leased.
Called on Mon. March 31,2003 got voicemail which is all I have ever gotten when I've called. Left message telling her we did not move in and needed to talk to her asap. Did not return the call.
On Tues. April 1,2003 rent is due and we did not move in so what do we do' Each time we went the Apt. we would meet her just as she's getting back from lunch at 2:00PM. We got there at 2:00 to find she wouldn't be back till 3:00PM. Waited! Was very nice to her and politely asked to terminate of our lease. Explained to her all I have written. Asked about our garage. Was told at first, she didn't know about any garage. Then said she remembered but that garage went to the people who rented the above apt. So why were we paying for a garage we did not have' She never deducted it from the total of rent. Told her we felt we were misrepresented, all the figures on the lease don't add up. Her reply was, I'm sorry but I can't void the lease. We said ok, told her we would contact the Management Company to see if they would help us. I handed her the Apt. keys and told her that we were not moving in did not need them or want them. Plus my girlfriend and I spent 4 hours of cleaning and would require about 8 more hours. Also, the mailbox keys did not fit the mail box.
Called Management to get voicemail, left message, recieved a call 2 days later.
My husband explained the situation and they said they would get back with us. Kerry continued to call but got voicemail each time.
Recieved a computer printout of a itemized bill that we owe $899.01. Reason for leaving: Skipped/Owes Money/No Notice. She has now turned it over to a collection agency and it is now on our credit report.
The only good thing I have to say is. Being in the business, they have a hell of a maintenace guy who deserves some help. With all the available maint.jobs I sure hope he left and went to somewhere he's appreciated.
