A very good complex

From: -Anonymous-
Date posted: 2/21/2002
Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2002

When we moved in, we just signed a 6 mo. lease because we were unsure. We have since renewed twice becuase we really enjoy this complex. We have a two bedroom with a sunroom.
TROUBLE SPOTS --
1. As another review suggested, the cooling system is not equal in all rooms. We initally thought it was the sunlight heating up our bedroom in the hot summers. We found that closing the double doors to our bedroom helps "trap" the cold air in there overnight. Smaller apts. might not have the same trouble.
2. The apartment was not spotless when we moved in. Despite a request to make conditions immaculate, the carpet still looked dingy and paint drops on the kitchen and bathroom floors remained. Once we moved in, however, it became less noticable.
3. Our neighbor had a problem with a rat. She told management and they set out some traps, but the thing was still lurking around. She eventually asked to move to another building because she couldn't get our of her lease. We didn't have a problem with any pests despite being in the same building.
4. The office hours are crazy. Something like 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Sometimes difficult for regular working people who have to pick up a package, etc.
GOOD THINGS --
1. They have a washer and dryer in every unit, and are not priced any more than the others in the area. Good value.
2. The neighborhood is great. Close to freeways, entertainment, park, etc. I have not seen or heard about an extordinary amount of crime in the area.
3. Gated (although gate is often broken). Lots of parking. Paid water and trash pickup.
4. Good neighbors. Although I only know a few by name and vice versa, everyone in our building seems to look out for each other (help with carrying heavy packages upstairs, using jumper cables, etc.). There is a feeling of community.
IN CONCLUSION --
Sure, there are some problems like any other complex -- most of which have to do with age. But these apts. are nice on the outside and inside and a real bargin compared to some others nearby. I recommend moving here.
