Trashy place, trashy policy, People leaving in numbers! I am leaving too!

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2009
Been living here over six years. In that time, they have increased rent while "market rates" dropped. I moved to a larger unit signing a new lease for less money than the proposed amount of rent increase for a lease renewal. They have started charging for trash services and somehow can never keep the trash dumpsters empty. Not getting what you pay for. They started charging for water services without any metering. The water bill has tripled and they make no apologies nor offer any refunds but have stated that they are looking to see if there are any leaks. Ants from the first floor to the third floor of many buildings. In over 7 years of residency, one tenant has never seen an end to the problem. (But tenant was unaware of his rights to vacate if the problem is not resolved in 7 days until recently.)
There is plenty of parking here though! Lots of people moving out as conditions are intolerable.
Know your rights! Texas has a good set of laws if you know them and follow good procedures. River Oaks apartment management has no moral issue against abusing people and families who do not know their rights. Tenants are showing signs of fear of management staff when asked about their experiences. One tenant nearly cried. Another asked to be removed from complaint list out of fear of retribution. Tenants are actively afraid of management here!
