Overall, pretty okay

I've lived here almost two years, and whole the place isn't perfect, I'm pretty satisfied with it.

- Staff - the office is generally helpful and friendly, but they do have a tendency to show up late or leave a bit early. Also, they are absolute STICKLERS about their fees and whatnot. Don't ever be the least bit late, or they will get you.

- Maintenance- As I understand it, we got a new guy about 6 months to a year ago. Maintenance is very friendly, quick to respond, and generally get the job done. I have a few minor complaints- my porch light hasn't worked since I moved in, and they made a horrible mess in my bathtub when fixing whatever is up above it- but nothing major.

- Neighbors - I adore my neighbors. I've met a good number of the people in my building, and they are all nice people. Noise really hasn't been a problem for me, except there seems to be one guy who likes to come home late blasting his stupid bass. People here are friendly. I've heard of people having problems with door dings, since the whole place is on a hill and gravity is strong if you don't pay attention, but I've not had any problems personally. But then again, the people around me are great, so it's possible I just got the really considerate folks around me.

Laundry - Okay, I hate that the laundry facilities are down two sets of stairs. I really do. It's a pain to haul my laundry down there, and even more of a pain to haul it all back UP the stairs. Plus, lately they seem to be having maintenance issues with the machines. There are only 4 washers and 4 dryers, and one of each is busted right now. Also, there's no place to sit in there if you want to stay with your clothes. If you rent here, get an apartment with a W/D connection.

Pool & Gym - The pool is okay, it's usually clean. I heard that the health inspector closed it for a while last summer, but they apparently got it fixed back up to code and it reopened. It's usually clean and well-kept, but I don't pay much attention since I never use the pool. As for the gym, it's pretty decent. The equipment is new, and there is a treadmill, an elliptical, a recumbent bike, and a weight machine kind of thing, plus a few free weights. It has a TV that you can watch while working out, too.

Rent - I don't like their habit of raising the rent every time someone renews their lease. I guess they do this to everyone. Fight them on it, hold their feet to the fire and I hear you can get them to back off.

Layouts - Beware which layout you pick- some of them have a wall as soon as you open the front door. Combined with where the door is in relation to the stairs, this can make it literally impossible to get big furniture in without taking it apart. Some apartments, the only way to get big furniture in is over the balcony. Yes, seriously.

The Park - They boast about being right up against River Legacy Park, and while this is technically true, you have to be willing to sort of forge your own path to get to the park proper. I know some tenants go running through the park, but the "trail" isn't all that well kept from what I've seen. It is really close, though, and the area is quite pretty.

Safety - I feel quite safe here. I am a female living alone, and I have never felt threatened or unsafe. It's pretty well lit, with all of the entrances at the front of the buildings. Check the Arlington Police Department's website for crime stats, but it's not bad here at all- the last place I was at was terrible, and some of the places just down Collins from here (Collins Pointe, anyone') have a bad reputation to people all the way in Fort Worth. This place, however, is nice. Plus, people are friendly and do tend to keep at least half an eye out for each other.

Like I said, the place has it pros and cons, but overall I'm satisfied with it. If I can get switched to an apartment with a W/D hookup when my lease is up, I'll definitely stay. But on the same token, I really want a W/D hookup so I am not so attached to the place that I'll stay if I can't get one.
