When my roomie & I dropped by to check these apts out in the spring of '07, we were shown a gorgeous 2 bdr. near the office.
We got excited immediately.
Some of the other complexes had been too expensive for us, or didn't have any openings, & we needed a place in a hurry.
We were so happy to think we could actually afford such a beautiful apt.
However, we were informed that would not be the apartment we were renting.
They refused to show us the one we'd be getting.
Adamantly.
When we moved in we found out why.
For starters, we told mgmt over & over that we had to move in on the 29th of the month.
We gave them a month & a half to get the place ready, & the morning we arrived, the mgr didn't want to give the key to me saying that the apt wasn't ready yet.
I explained that it had to be ready b/c we informed them we would have to move in today, & I was moving in anyway, ready or not.
Black spots on the "new" carpet, carpet not properly tacked down & pulling up at the edges, stains on countertop, gouges in countertop, front door does not close properly, cracked toilet that never stops running, the worst part for me: bugs EVERYWHERE, living & dead.
None of the above got properly fixed, & I am sure I am going to pay for it when I move out. Worse, the bugs kept getting worse.
They never, ever bombed or sprayed the residence.
They only put down bait, which of course, cannot attract all the bugs.
Even worse, pest control got into the habit of not notifying us when they would be dropping by. They were always supposed to give 24 hours notice.
They often let themselves in while roomie or I (both of us female) were in the shower.
The most recent issue we had was when pest control let themselves in unannounced while we were away. Since we didn't know they were coming, we didn't lock up our pet.
They didn't bother to lock up when they left & we came home to an open door.
We panicked, found pet safe (thank goodness), & assumed we royally messed up until we found the note on the counter informing us, after the fact, that pest control had been there.
Maintenance also left our patio door wide open while remodeling the patio this fall.
They had no reason to open it in the first place, except perhaps, that it was a ladies' bedroom. No reason pertaining to their job anyway.
Despite numerous complaints, I am sure mgmt will blame us for everything wrong with the place when we leave. Whatever. I will just be happy to be gone.
I have lived at worse places, but not by much.
I urge you not to move here, & if you are stuck between a rock & a hard place, like I was, make sure that they don't shove you to the back of the complex. That's where they forget about you. Mgmt lives practically right next door to me, & the only maintenance that goes on happens in her place.
They don't give a care about you, just your money. Find somewhere else.
