Avoid all United Dominion properties

My partner and I lived at The Cliffs for over 5 years and we never violated our lease, have never been threatened with eviction, nor have we ever even been late with rent. Therefore, give our track record and length of stay I think our opinion would qualify as one of those The Cliffs recommended one could regard when making a decision.
We noticed a decline in the service and quality of residents allowed to moved in when UDRT took over the property, but we never realized just how bad this company is until we tried to reason with them concerning our move-out.
UDRT, both property and corporate level, deals in a very one-sided fashion, the only difference between the two is at the property level, expect to be condescended to and treated like a 5 year-old. Everything is their way, period, no exception. They dictate the terms and make no compromise. Logic, reason, amd humanity are unfortunately lost on them.
We tried to negotiate a slightly early (month and a half) release from our apartment because we are buying a house and the closing date happens to precede our lease end-date by two months. To avoid paying double housing payments, we had hoped we could negotiate a compromise with them. After being brow beat by the property manager for even suggesting such a notion, we were given the same response (albeit in a more dignified and professional manner) by corporate: pay up.
So the lesson is this, after ten years of apartment living, I have never encountered such an unyielding property owner. In the past I had one occasion to negotiate a one-month-early release from a lease contract from another property and did so with no resistence; quite the contrary, they were happy to help me. So to add to the litany of complaints against this and other UDRT properties, don't rent here.

Whine, Whine, Whine, you want some cheese to go with that whine. Sounds as if someone did not want to fulfill a legal binding contract. Had these residents been selling a house would they have expected a mortgage holder to allow them to move off and not pay the note because they found one they liked better? I think they and you know the answer to that one, NO. What does John Q. Public think the multifamily housing industry is, a non-profit organization? These owners are not in the business to make friends, they are there to make money. Buck up kiddo and pay for your commitments.

I agree completely, United Dominion can go screw themselves. This user response from billperk2 definitely appears as if he is the property manager. Anyone who has lived in a UD property will agree with me, they treat you like garbage and screw you for all your worth. I'm out in San Diego, so it is certainly not just TX. Stay away from United Dominion.

I absolutely agree with you!! We lived in a UD apartment for 2 years. We wanted to get out of our lease 12 days early...but those MFers not only charged us the 12 days rent but our water bill was huge and they charged us $875 to replace the 25 cent/sq foot carpet that they use. We are trying to fight it, but we aren't sure how.

Absolutely the worst management company I have ever had the bad luck to encounter. Honestly folks, take the warnings of the people here seriously before you ever consider moving in to a United Dominion. In my opinion, their way of doing business is predatory. If you have any trouble with your apartment, expect a response similar to billperk's.

Presently living in a 2 1/2 year old apartment. Pay over 2500 a month. Building cleanliness and maintenance is basically non-existant. Trash rooms are filthy as are the chutes. Various trash and mounds of dryer dust fill the hallways. It is an embarrassment to have anyone over if they walk the hallways. The halls and trash rooms are never regularly cleaned. Usually only 2 times a year. Spring and Fall, if we are lucky. Have to complain over and over. The pool is dirty most times and the levels are not where they should be. The pool, which we try to avoid usually, but having a couple of kids who want to swim is hard. The pool water is salty. We can't figure out why. Very disappointed in this property. Cannot find the corporate office to send a letter of complaint to though and the management will not provide the address.

I live in Washington State and this particular property owner is the worst of the worst. They bought this new property from another rental property owner and since then, customer service has gone s***!! I even had the manager here make a racist comment and told me in front of others to shut up when I aske a question about why my water bill is almost a hundred dollars. My lease is up so I am moving from this hell hole. It has been almost 5 yrs since I have been living here and again mangement seem to come and go as quickly as the tenants. Mill Creek, WA.
