We've lived here for approximately 6 months now and have sort of an update of sorts.
We're in the 1bed 1 study 1 bathroom model, with 922 sq ft with the upgrade option. Very nice looking place, wonderful appliances, spacious cielings (we're on the 3rd sty though).
Pros
Maintenance- Wonderful, fast, quality work and they definitely know what they're doing. Max wait for service was a day and that was because it was due to an outside supplier issue.
Location- Quick to 360/I-30 and central Arlington. Nice choice of businesses around for food, grocery, essentials etc.
Gates- Seem to be always working and if not they seem to be fixed in a fast manner. Makes you feel secure
Quality of the apartment- Nothing out of the ordinary seems to go wrong, and the building seems to be in good standing
Neighbors- With the exception of a couple of times with previous neighbors below, the people have been great. Very friendly.
Cons
Parking- At least for our building which is deep in the complex towards the NW corner it is horrible. 1 space that is covered and very few visitor spaces around without a legnthy walk. If you have any more than 2 people over parking can be a nightmare for some.
Cost- For what you get its not a wonderful deal compared to some others in the area. I get a discount via my employer and without it we probably would have been elsewhere. For 922sqft and to pay that much in rent due to the upgrade with the discount...ouch
Trash- The pickup idea is a good one but it needs to be more accessible. Only a 1 hour window to drop off is kind of a pain. The dumpster is always full and the smell isn't nice on the weekends. Mgmt. needs to enforce the trash policy better, plenty of people abuse it.
Upgrade- The upgrade comes with granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathroom, stainless steel appliances, "wood floors" in the kitchen (they're cheap laminate style, that comes up and stains easily.) And ceramic tile in the entry way and bathroom. If you're going to pay the money for the upgrade the least they could do was make the floors true hardwood, and in larger areas like say the living room and kitchen.

The person who posted the above response seems to be posting on several UDR communities ratings accounts. If you read the post at the Mandolin, another UDR community, the same person has posted negative information regarding that community. I notice this as i was checking out UDR communities because I plan on moving to one.

That's because we transferred to to the Mandolin in November as we were getting a house completed in the area by April-May. Less milage on the move and a newer complex. Didn't work out for the best as the Cliff's were much nicer and with better up keep. Instead of having to break my lease at the Cliffs and pay an ungodly amount of money. We talked with management and simply transferred to another UDR property for only $150. For the record as well we lived in 2 apartments total, both UDR if thats several so be it.

Haha, Anonymous must have been that tattle tale everyone avoided in elementary school. Or some UDR employee. You tell him/her hockeyplaya! Nice review by the way, very informative.
