"Dorm" vs. Apartment

I have lived here for 8 months and thought I was moving into a decent apartment complex, but I feel like I'm living in a university dorm with a majority of nothing but students around. Maybe it was just my block, who knows.
DO NOT MOVE TO THE FIRST FLOOR - it is just way too noisy. There seems to be an increase in the number of loud-music-playing vehicles in the complex. Very disappointing.
I thought the gate would enhance security, but I found that no matter what time of day or night, there was always someone coming in or out which allowed just about anyone to enter the property.
Nice environment; excellent gym; nice pool - but if I had a choice, I would not stay here again. There are just way too many people for one apartment complex.
