Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
When me and my first roommate moved in almost a year ago, we thought the apartments were really nice because of the scenery and the price. We jumped the gun on signing a lease because we really liked north arlington, but as soon as we moved in, it was constantly one thing after the next. The management is terrible. Our balcony leaks and mold grows on the cement. It was like that when we moved in a year ago, and they told us someone would be there to fix it right away. Someone came out 2x the first month that we were there, didnt fix it, and never came back again. After that because the apartment consists of really old appliances, doors, lights, etc, when anything happend and went wrong it would take days for someone to come and fix it whenever we put a work order in. A few weeks ago our hot water went out, and we had someone come in and look at it a total of 6 times. Needless to say, they told my roommate that because their fax machine was not working, that all of the staff was busy focusing on that. They finally told us that since no one could fix it, they would order a new part to fix our water heater. In the mean time they gave us a key to the guest suite so we could shower, do laundry, etc. Well..the guest suite has absolutely no lightening in it except for in the bathroom. So, ultimately me and my roommate had the option of taking a cold shower in the light, or a hot one in the dark. When my roommate called the office to ask them the status of the part they ordered, they told us that our work order had been closed and that no one had ordered anything. Bottome line..they didn't really care at all. For the life of both of us, we can not explain that logic. Then later that week our toilet overflowed, causing a half of inch of standing water in one of the bathrooms. We called the office the next morning when they opened to have someone come in and look at the bathrooms since we had no clue what was going on, and were both scared to flush either toilet wondering if we did if it would overflow again..onto the carpet at that. 3x my roommate called the office and talked to a girl named kandice (who btw is one of the worst people to talk to because she has no credibility at all) and told her we needed someone out there asap, and she promised each time that someone was on the way. The apartments close at 6, and at 5:45 when no one had shown up, she went down there to see why no one had come to look at our toilet yet, and they proceeded to tell us that an old pipe in the building had caused the overflow, and that we weren't first priority to have someone come look at anything because we had 2 bathrooms. Now why they would promise to have someone there knowing that in their books we weren't first priority the entire time, or for that NOT tell us about the pipe being the cause of the situation, made no sense to either one of us. Bottom line, the staff needs to learn how to tell the truth and work as a team more. When tenants can't trust the management as far as they can throw them, it becomes a very stressful and unhappy place to live. I do not reccomend these apartments unless by some miracle the entire staff gets replaced with people that know how to do their job.
