Adequate living but bad management

The office management had changed recently and the lady up there now is very rude. They arbitrarily close the office without sending a memo out on a Friday, the day most everyone gets paid, and when rent is due, then comes Monday, when they decide to get back from their 3 day vacation, they charge $60 for my rent being late. I believe I overheard the same problem from some other tenant on the phone too, not sure. I thought it was a bit ridiculous.

And to whomever responded, I know its part of the lease agreement, that is why I paid it without too-too-much bitching, plus I'm going to get my security deposit back when I move out, which was a heck of alot more than $60, thus not worth arguing about or moving over, but it does financially hurt and it'd make anybody angry.

I'm not saying it wasn't in their right to do what they did, I was saying it was pretty wrong not to give me a little leeway under the circumstances of the closure and that on Friday, payday for most people, the office was closed. Sticking a memo on the office door at whatever time they did doesn't really constitute a very good form of notification in my opinion. They used to spend a little time, paper, and ink, and stick it on everyone's doors, which would have been a little more helpful. Sometimes it even had nice things to say, which I think was all David's doing.

Living there is -typically- affordable, and most of the people are okay that live there. The water is free, I guess that's good, but somewhat typical. Maintenance shows up when you ask most of the time, or at least on the second time you ask. It's not somewhere I'd stay for too long as far as safety goes. It hasn't been a year and we've seen arson, I stopped my neighbors apartment from getting burglarized scaring the guy off, recently another apartment was broken into and robbed, and in the past years a man was robbed, he resisted and was murdered there. Its still unsolved, and on the Arlington PD website. Anyway now they have a security guy that walks around at night sometimes, and I've seen the cops come once because people were sitting outside late one night.

So if it wasn't for the staff being occasionally rude, with the exception of the maintenance guys who are pretty nice, I'd say it was okay.

Fortunaltly for everyone who speaks spanish or ENGLISH the manager is bilingual. The only problem I see with the office being closed is that there are people who don't know how to buy a money order or write a check so that they can put the rent in the night drop just like evryone else. And if we have a security guy then that means someone cares for our safety. There is nothing anyone can do for what happened in the past but it looks like they are trying to do something so that things wont happen in the feature.

...just to be sure, weren't the banks closed on the 4th of July or am I wrong? Please tell me I'm wrong. Maybe Cambiamos Cheques was open, they do free money orders from what I'm told, but I never go there, so I wouldn't know. Wasn't it a national holiday? I mean you could look at it as though the tenants are the problem, but as the other guy said it was something like 25 people? Now I don't know about that? He could be exaggerating, but if it was, that is statistically a significant portion of the complex. If 25 people came Monday with the same problem, I think it was a result of something management did.
