I loved it

Let me first explain why I'm writing this review: I have been on this site looking at reviews of other apartments that I am considering and they are all horrible. So I thought, "Let me see what the reviews are like for somewhere I actually have lived and see how they compare with MY experience."
I was SHOCKED to find the reviews for 900 West were even worse!
I lived in the smallest 3 bed/2 bath model my senior year with 2 roommates and overall had a GREAT experience. In my opinion, that was the only model that had "good bang for your buck" when I rented. (My roommates and I simply couldn't afford the bigger models). Considering the location and the niceness of the apartments compared to a lot of other West Campus places, I thought it was a pretty good deal. (I know a bunch of newer places have sprung up since then and I don't know how their prices compare now.) The model we had (209) appeared to be freshly painted and was in very good condition. That being said, I was VERY thorough in documenting EVERY scratch I could find to avoid losing our large deposit at the end of the year. It paid off: We only paid the expected cleaning fees $60 for having 2 toilets fixed during the course of the year. We got almost all the money back.
I would not call Craig Coffee the best landlord ever, but he introduced himself to a bunch of the residents on move-in day and I thought he at least did what he was supposed to do. We got notes on our kitchen counter everytime building maintenance was going to affect our unit, and when our toilets broke they were fixed ASAP. (I think we had to wait a day or two for one because it broke on the weekend.) I'm not 100% sure but I THINK they were changing management right as we were moving out, so that might make most of these reviews obsolete.
I personally consider "noise level" to be something that you just have to accept with living in West Campus. We never had problems with our neighbors because we got to know them, but I was annoyed by drunk people being loud in the street on occasion.
I loved that we had a parking spot for each of us, even though one was uncovered on the top floor. We rotated spots each week between the 3 of us and it worked out fine. We would parallel park on the street to save spots for friends when they were coming to visit and then move into the garage. Obviously if you're throwing a party, parking sucks in West Campus.
I only have a couple SERIOUS complaints about the complex: People would piss in the elevator and stairwells frequently, and there were cockroaches in the stairwell near the elevator. The piss got cleaned up every week, but I swear someone would make sure to stink it up the following weekend. We had a couple silverfish in our apartment, but no other pests and the pest guy came pretty regularly.
My advice: Live here. Just make sure you document all the scratches/etc on your apartment condition form (like you should do anywhere), and plug your nose when you're taking the elevator or stairs.
