Good at First, Went Downhill

We recently moved out, and couldn't be happier with the decision. We moved in because it was one of the best apartments for the price we were willing to pay. Our view was great, the apartment was nice, and the maintenance always responded very quickly (and the maintenance guys are really friendly). And the community was good for a while...

Unfortunately, things went from good to bad. It started small. People would be at the pool late at night, being noisy (it got so bad one time around 2AM that we called the cops). Also, people would leave their belongings down at the pool for weeks at a time, and there were often beer bottles lying around (which--to be fair--maintenance does pick up fairly quickly). We were harassed by some other residents one night because _they_ were driving on the wrong side of the street and almost hit _us_. One resident would let their dog run around the complex unsupervised; this went on for months and was never addressed my management. Needless to say, there are some trashy people who started moving into the complex, and the security and community really started going down-hill by the time we left.

A few months before we moved out, one of our cars was broken into, and even though the office said they would have to send out a warning to other residents (they told us another car had reportedly been broken into that night as well), that never happened. There was tag (graffiti) in the men's bathroom in the fitness center, which was still there after two months (the last time I was in there). The "security" gate for our section of the apartments was often broken for weeks at a time, and the office would always say they were "waiting on a part."

On top of all that, after living there for two years, they wanted to raise our rent a ridiculous amount, over $50! We always paid rent on time, and never caused any trouble, but I guess that doesn't count for much with this complex!

We found a much nicer apartment in the area with better amenities for a better price. I whole-heartedly recommend that you do too.

Which apartment did you change to?! I can't decide on anything in this area.
