I would say that this is a good place to live, but I have to question whether it is worth it. The atmosphere here is not what I expected it to be. You'd think that the people who would want to live downtown would be younger, single people and definitely not families. Nevertheless, I have lived across from several tenants with kids. Downtown' I have nothing against families, but it was not what I expected. For the most part, the people who live here are either older or married. This is fine, of course, if that is what you are looking for.

And the parking is ridiculous. I can't believe that they would charge us for parking when they are already charging us more than any other complex for rent. Then, on top of that, the parking spots are not even assigned. On the weekends, you will fight to find a spot just like all of the weekend downtown party-goers. If not for the "not needing to drive home drunk" thing, there would be no advantage to living here over just parking here when you go out.

The highly touted retail space has been and will most likely continue to be a flop. They wanted to build this Soho-like artsy cultural district with cool local bars and shops, but they are charging so much for the spaces that they are only getting high priced furniture stores and clothing boutiques. There is some value to that, but I can't see much benefit in living above that kind of shopping area. Are you stumbling home drunk from buying a $4000 couch' And don't let me start on what it is like to live above the construction zone that is building those stores.

The Amli is a great place, but I would be really aware of the environment that you are moving into. If you are expecting a hip, young professionals, downtown community with a little bit of art/cultural feel to it, this is not the place for you. This is how they will sell it to you, but it's not really what you'll get. This is not to say that the Amli is not a great place to live, but I would just make sure it is the place you are expecting for what you will be required to pay.
