When we were looking for a 2/2 close to downtown, we thought this place was great. Our tour guide via golf cart was nice and knowledgeable. But, once we signed the lease, let the games begin. On move in day, the carpet was still wet and the apartment was a huge disappointment. The kitchen cabinets smelled of vanilla candle at one end, with black burned wax coating the underneath, to an ashtray at the other end. A can of white spray paint to mask the smell was the maintenance resolution. The back door was covered in mold. The kitchen floor was filthy. The toilets had piss down the front of them. Too many patch jobs on the walls and doors to count from previous holes. The fixtures are cheap and some are cracked. But we cleaned, and hoped for the best.
The noise level is an increasing problem. The noise you hear depends on your neighbor. We had one person above us who was quite as a mouse. But the new people, we can tell when they take a shower, use the restroom, use the garbage disposal, vacuum the carpet, etc.
We are on the first floor and our bedrooms have air conditioning units outside of them. Never in a previous apartment did we hear the units like we do here. Our bedroom walls actually vibrate when they are on and you hear a very loud hum. When we brought it to the offices attention, we were treated like we were ludicrous. They would stand in our room and say, Well I don t think it is that loud. They told us they could not put any insulation in the wall. Long story short, we had to put a shelf next to the wall and line pillows and blankets between it and the wall to try to muffle the noise. We even lined the window with insulation boards to try to cut down the noise.
They just started charging each tenant a monthly fee to make them a pretty monthly statement that incorporates your rent, trash and water charges. PLEASE!
And the parking .. We have a garage and we were told PRIOR to deciding to move in and after moving in that we could park behind our garage. This was a big asset when choosing this property due to the VERY limited parking spaces around the apartments. We brought to the attention of the office that the fire lane was extended more on our side of the building than the opposite side and asked if there was something they could do because we were concerned the more we parked there. Well, just as expected, we were treated like we were vermin. Since the office personnel changes more than a normal roll of toilet paper, the girl who rented the apartment to us is gone. Since she is gone, they can t verify she said we could park there and as usual they were very condescending. They act like we are trying to fraud them when we tell them we were told we could park there. They said there is nothing they can do and then proceeded to turn it around like it is our fault that we did not get it in writing from her or ask about it sooner.
I thought in this world people and businesses stood by their word and put the customer first. NOT THIS PLACE. We are going to move as soon as we can.

Are you sure you are at Amli Scofield?
As to your first sentence, Amli Scofield is not anywhere near downtown, it's way north Austin, with Round Rock just the next exit or two up. I think you got the wrong place.
I'm not sure how any other Amli properties are, but I know Scofield Amli doesn't have any such problems you complain about.
My apartment was clean when I moved in, everything in great condition, and I don't hear any noise problems in my building. We're on first floor even, and the the outside A/C is nowhere near our bedroom window, and I don't have any problems with my walls.
And no they haven't "just started charging" that monthly fee you're talking about. That's been around for a while now. Almost any place you go there is a trash fee incorporated into your water bill. Here the water bill is shown on your rent payment when it's due. I have a reasonable water bill and we both shower twice a day, wash clothes all the time, and the dishwasher runs about once a day, and my water bill is around $30 a month. And many places have the water bill payable to the apartment office, that's added to your rent statement. Not a problem with it for me.
And as for management? I haven't seen any change in the management while I've been here. All the same people in the office, though I think one of the girls recently got a promotion, but she still works on the office.
Overall, I think parking is OK and gets worse the later you come home though. Maintenance is wonderful, they come the same day with no problems, place is so quiet that I don't hear any major problems. Everything is clean outside, and I feel safer than anywhere else in Austin area.
Again, I love this place, and think you got the wrong Amli location.
I stand by my previous review of the place. :)

I agree. I don't think this person was reviewing Scofield Ridge. I currently live there, and haven't seen a new monthly charge for them to consolidate the bills and there haven't been any personnel changes that I've seen. All the same people work there as when I moved in a year ago.
I can hear noises from my neighbors, but they're muffled and limited to things like the shower running or the washer/dryer being used. Though, honestly, I've had that in most apartments and it's certainly no worse here than any other place I've lived in that regard. Sure, I'd love some additional sound insulation to make the place seem more like a private house than an apartment, but the noise level here certainly isn't bad.

I currently live at AMLI at Stonehollow at this review couldn't be about this complex. It's probably about 5 minutes away from Scofield. This person just sounds like they don't know what's it like to be in an apartment.
You do have the chance of hearing you neighbors. That's just part of apartment living. As for the garages here, the fire lanes are far enough away from the garage to provide parking for two vehicles. The staff in the office actually told me to park both my vehicles there. I was never bothered by the staff or the tow service they have come through the property at night.
Every property I've ever lived at charges water and trash. As far as I know all the AMLI's run the same way and follow the same policies.
I've lived here for 3 years and the staff knows my name. They have been nothing but great.
I think this resident just had an unfortunate experience and wanted to rant.

Yes. I live at Scofield Ridge. I know where I live. I am sorry that you have had wonderful experiences and I have not. Thus is life.

i'm so glad i'm outta there! i'm so glad to read of another complaint about the a/c units outside the bedroom windows. the noise was so loud that we had many sleepless nights. i had to have the whole maintenance team in the room listening to the noise and they thought i was hearing things.i had to rearrange my bed. i can hear the neighbors upstairs. they were so loud. overall the noises were horrendous! water and gas bill is high comparing to where i'm at now. had to pay for a carport because parking was very limited.i learn to make sure to take a close inspection before i move into a place!
