Not so great of a deal after all

I moved to Vistas because of the awesome deal I got back in July 2002. I needed cheap rent and that's what they had. So, I'm not going to beat myself up too bad over my choice. However, to help someone in their future decision, please consider the following:
* I have never, in the 12 years I've rented apartments, lived somewhere where the insulation is so bad. I can hear my neighbor's alarm clock going off every morning as well every conversation my neighbor's have with their spouses.
* My experience with the management team has been sub-par. My move in was horrible. They did not have the apartment ready, then kept giving me keys that didn't work. They did accomodate my by taking $200 off my 1st month's rent. Then my darn mailbox key didn't work. It was about 4 days after I moved in before I got around to checking my mail, but then I was told it was not an emergency "request" and that they would get around to getting the right key to me when they had a chance. I always get the excuse that they are short handed on maintenence guys.
* The trash dumpster situation is horrible. I do not enjoy seeing trash overflowing, coming down the pathway, and smelling like, well, trash, every single weekend. GET MORE TRASH DUMPSTERS!!! it's that simple. I also do not like having to put my trash in my car and driving it over to the dumpster. I live completely on the other side of the complex from the dumpster so I don't want to have to walk it that far either.
Good things about this place:
* Usually has really good rent deals. I don't plan on signing another lease regarless of what they were to offer me so I don't mind having to give a 60 day notice.
* Very close to a great HEB.
* Love my black upgraded appliances
* I actually appreciate the notices the manager leaves on the door. I like that they try to keep the dog's poop off the sidewalk and people out of the pool in the middle of the night. I did think it was hilarious when they wanted us to tell them who was renting a garage or carport.
* I love that I'm close to Lake Travis and beautiful scenery.
Recently, the company that constructed the complex realized there was a problem with some of the cabinets. I thought management did the right thing by telling all the residence and having the cabinets inspected by the construction company representitive.
This place came in handy during a time I needed very cheap rent. I won't be renewing my lease no matter what though. I don't like this place overall.
