We lived at this complex for a year after we moved to Austin. They floored us when we first looked at the complex - it was a gorgeous place - but once we signed the lease, it was nothing but a PITA.

Dogs run loose - cats do, too - but they crap all over the place. Owners are not held responsible for their pets.

The carpet is cheap and nasty. It was clean when we moved in, but after two days, there were grease spots that were picking up dirt. It was embarassing to have guests over.

The heating/AC is so loud. We had a 2br/2ba, and when the air or heat kicked on, the fan was so loud in the living room that you could not hear the TV.

Maintenance sucked, too. Our kitchen light was out for a week before anyone was able to replace the bulb. Had I known that it would take this long, I'd have done it myself. We had a broken windowsill and crayon marks on the walls and baseboards - I reported them when we moved in, and there were allegedly service requests put in for repairs...but when we moved out 10 months later, they hadn't been fixed.

Partying was usually okay, but there was this one morning that we walked outside and found a used condom by our door...

It was always loud - we were by the stairs, and heard everyone who went up or down.

I will say, though, that Archstone Corporate is good about responding. I emailed them with the light issue, and my light was fixed that day. The corporate office was good about following up, too.
