Nice Place

This really is a nice apartment community. The problems that a lot of these reviewers have written about, they will continue to have at any property they lease from, because they cause the problems themselves by paying rent late (or not at all), not fully reading through their rental contract before signing, and by being careless since the property does not belong to them. I have had an issue with the management before, but not because the management team is a group of bullies on the prowl, it was my own fault. I simply forgot to pay my rent. They simply did their job by notifying me. I agreed to pay my rent on time; anything that happened subsequently was because I did not pay my rent on time.

The staff is actually very nice. Shortly after they took over (Archstone used to manage this property) they brought in more dumpster bins, we previously only had one for the entire grounds, and it was a nightmare especially in the summer when the trash would cook. They pruned everything. Every tree all of the bushes were cut back substantially. They put down sod, and more recently where there once was mud, there now is mulch. The pool at the clubhouse was resurfaced after swimming season was over. They have also tried to bring our community together by hosting events. They ll provide free water bottles if you work out with them in the gym on Monday nights. There was a Christmas party in the clubhouse they provided pizza and cookies for the kids to decorate. They are putting effort into making this an attractive place.

The only problem that I have an issue with is the dog poop. People don t clean up after their dog is finished defecating. It is not sanitary! They provide plenty of the clean-up stations. I assume that most of the dog owners just don t want to pick-up the poop. It actually stinks walking past the most popular patch of grass. But, this happens in any place that animals are allowed, especially dogs. Maybe they should ask the Monday landscape crew if they are up to the task of removing those stinky lawn ornaments.
It is unfortunate that the grassy areas can only be used by the dogs, the kids can t kick a ball around on it nor can you set up a picnic. I hope they are at least trying to come up with a solution, because it is not sanitary! Ok, enough about poop!

The property is gated, but not fenced. Seems like it is more of a device to prohibit thru traffic than it is a security device.

The apartments are nice. I believe they were built in 2001 so all of the appliances are updated. I have nine foot ceilings with crown moldings. All appliances are electric. The cabinets look like wood but are a plastic veneer. They are very contemporary looking. They periodically have someone come through with a blower to clean out any debris that may accumulate in the breezeways.

I can t say that I don t hear my neighbors every once in awhile when they do something loud such as vacuum or accidentally turn up their bass too high (they promptly turn it down). I don t ever hear alarm clocks, snoring, or conversations, thankfully. Though, I could hear one of my neighbors singing very loudly to what was possibly opera when I walked past his door, though I couldn t hear him from within my apartment. So, the apartments obviously are not soundproofed.

Concordia, which is a private Lutheran college, is opening right behind the complex in Aug 2008. I am not sure what to expect. Will it enrich this community or turn it into a dorm like setting'

The price of the apartment I have is great for a two bed/two bath 1040sf. I pay in the $760 s not sure what the rate is now. I got the apartment in April 2007 when Archstone still managed the place.
Overall it is a nice place, I like living here. It is not comparably quiet to a single family home on five acres, nor should you expect it to be! This is an apartment complex. Occasional noise from the hundreds of others that live around you can be heard from time to time.

I agree that they have made considerable efforts to improve the looks of the place. I'm sure its not cheap to make all those improvements. Wow, $760 for a 2 bed. I pay $630 for a studio!!!! Its highway robbery. Thank god I'm moving. As far as the gates go, its probably more of an insurance thing, as well as the ability to say "gated community." I have complained about the office crew becuase the two times they tried to evict me, it was because they lost the payments that I gave them on time. I actually managed to get an apology out of them the second time when they issued me a subpoena to appear in court. That was special. I've noticed that there always seem to be new faces in the office. That usually indicates a company that is very unpleasant to work for. And unhappy employees have a tendency to be grumpy. Anyway, yes they have made improvements, I just wish they would quit messing up my rent payments. Those are just my thoughts.

okay so i lived there for 3 years never once late on my payments, when it came to move out the apartment was in exellent form, well i had them change the blinds on the back door cause they never put the holder on it to keep it swinging open when i opened the door, well they charged me with that, and i didnt even have a pet and they charged me with some kind of pet treatment....and in our lease agreement they had on there they we wouldnt be charged with the carpet cause i asked them a hundered billion times to come fix it and they never did so yah they are charging me with that also. well my over all is i would never live at those or any of the apartments they own again. it was nice at one point in time till they started doing to constructon the the school and now they have just made it into a dorm room.
