The staff is not friendly at all. When I renewed my lease (yes, silly me) one of the girls in the front office told me I could get a free carpet cleaning. I went in a couple months later and the witch that works there now grilled me like I was an idiot for even suggesting something and "who told you you could get a free cleaning'" Damn, its your carpet, not mine people! I have called them several times over issues and they NEVER call me back, even when someone takes the message personally. Its very sad. They also hike up your renewal rate $20-40/mo, but charge new renters the same price as your old rent. When you confront them about it, they deny it! VERY VERY poor management. Any yes the murderer guy did live here. I watched the sheriff's swat team storm his apartment. Its not the first time numerous police cars have been on scene. I've lived here two years and they have been here at least 4 times.

The stories about eviction notices the day after your first and only late payment are true! They threaten you constantly with it (even though eviction is a long and costly option that they really would never want to take). When the place was Vistas at Canyon Creek the staff was so nice and I loved it here. Every since Trinity took over they fired all of those people and everyone there now is RUDE RUDE RUDE!!! When I resigned my lease, the girl in the front office tried to sign me at market rate, even though I was supposed to get below market.

I haven't had as much trouble with the college students as others have, but they definitely cater to the college. I have seen good tenants get pushed out to make room for the students.

The lighting in my breezeway keeps going out (all the lights at once). It is a short, I know it is and I've called about it MANY times. They never bother to fix it and its dangerous at night, you can't see the stairs.

Your post is very accurate and truthful. But I have a question: how is it that after so many ne3gative reports on this site, the rating NEVER goes below 28%????

Yeah, you above me, you obviously work there. You say this person is wrong, but there are many complaints of the SAME thing on this one little website? EVERYONE is wrong but you huh? THEY are the exception to your experience? Not likely at all. I didn't read any insinuation that the murderer living there was managements fault. To me it speaks of an unsafe environment. Yes the eviction notice may be a standard texas form, but how about a late payment notice? I know I have been late on ONE payment and I got the eviction notice the next day. Every other complex I have EVER lived at gives you a polite phone call, or reminder note on your door. There is a respectful way to maintain a business and not treat people like idiots. "Pay your rent on time and you will not receive any notices"...that sounds just like the condescending tone of the office.

I don't think the above person lives at Alara Canyon Creek. For one thing there are so many lights around the complex that half of them could go out and it would still be bright as day at night. Light pollution is my only complaint about the place and I have been there 5 years. The current staff has been very friendly and responsive whenever I have had to have something fixed. After 5 years I needed a new flapper in the toilet and the AC system needed maintenance. They were both looked at and fixed within a day of reporting the issues. Gimmes for renewing: Trinity does not make the offers that Archstone did when renewing the lease ie. carpet cleaning; new ceiling fan; etc. I don't sign a lease for those reasons anyway. If you trash your carpet you should clean it yourself. You must have renewed your lease before Trinity took over from Archstone. Those were freebies offered by Trinity not Archstone. Of course they offer first time renters a lowere price on an apartment. Most apartments do that to entice new tenants. Yes, rent does increase every time the lease expires. Name one apartment complex that does not increase the rent at the end of each lease. To get the lower rate you choose the longer lease. That is how it works everywhere. A person who committed murder then killed himself once lived at Alara Canyon Creek. You are incinuating that management had something to do with it. Babe, this may seem like the country, but this is the city. Whackos are everywhere. I was pretty impressed with the way the Sheriffs dept maintained a low profile while they were here. Yes, they were noticeable, but they were not running around with their sirens blazing like you see anywhere at anytime in downtown Austin. I saw them too and they did not storm anything. They sat outside the guys apartment overnight waiting for the guy to come home. What college students? Concordia or UT? Neither have been a problem where I live. The eviction notices put out are standard Texas notices you see anywhere you rent in Texas and are in accordance with the Texas Property Code. Pay your rent on time and you will not receive any notices. Alara Canyon Creek is a clean, quiet, safe place to live and the staff is very friendly and courteous. Notice that none of the above people use their names or even their nicknames to sign their messages.

The comment about them threatning to evict you if your one day late is so true. We got an evication notice three times because the staff failed to attach our check to our apartment number 3 different times. IDIOTS!!!! How hard is that?!

I think it is HILARIOUS how the management at Alara constantly checks up with this site. It is just ridiculous. My old roomate once posted a note on this site being specific about the problems she had with the management (we got a noise violation in september because they thought we were having a party, when actually it was just the two of us outside on the deck). The management actually confronted her about the note she posted, saying that it is rude of her to do that! The management is such a joke!
