I am a current resident at the Amli at Lantana Hills. For the past year and a half I have paid my rent early in order to avoid any discrepancies. For November's rent I turned in my check on October 28th. Although I personally walked my check into the office and presented the check to the "assistant community manager" somehow my check has been lost! There was absolutely no misunderstanding regarding the paperwork I was turning in, as our communication was limited to "this is my rent check". I also took the time to write my apartment number on the check and place it into an envelope with the apartment number written on the outside as well. I was left a voicemail on November 4th at 5:50 PM stating that my rent was late and that I had incurred a late rental fee. I immediately went to the office with a carbon copy of my check that I had turned in on October 28th, where they acted as if it was an inconvenience that I had come in as they were about to close the office. When I questioned what was going to happen regarding my rent, I was told that they did not know and would have to investigate. I was not even offered an apology at that time. Now, I have to find time in my busy schedule to cancel the check with my bank as the Amli at Lantana Hills has requested of me and re-pay my rent that I paid EARLY.According to the email I just recieved from the office I cannot recieve a credit for my canceled check fees unless I bring proof to the office. Great, another thing that I need to make time for. How does someone lose a check for $936.34' Not to mention that I am paying for a pool that I can't even use because it is quarantined by the health department.I work very hard to pay my bills on time and for someone to not think that my check is important enough to put up for safekeeping is unthinkable.
The following is the letter I recieved from the office. :

Dear ****,
After searching my office and talking to the other office employees, I am unable to recover the check and envelope you said you gave to me on the 28th of October. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, but you will have to put a stop payment on the check and reissue another. We will cover any fees incurred by your bank as long as you provide us some sort of documentation showing the amount.

A couple of other items of note:
-If you like having to put your trash on top of your car and drive it out to the dumpter then live here
-If you like rats running over your feet when you take the trash to the dumpster at night then live here
-If you like living in an apartment with just one small pool that is quarantined by the health department during the last month hot enough to swim in it, then live here
-If you like coming home after a late night at work and there is a crazy person outside along with several police cars then live here
-If you like being sent a note during hurricane season telling you that you must immediately remove everything from the patio or you will be charged $200 dollars then live here
-If you like paying your water bill according to the square footage of your apartment then live here
-If you like being told that you are five minutes too late to have your gate key re-programmed and that you would like to come back tomorrow then live here
I think you get the idea.

It certainly looks as though a "changing of the guard" in the leasing office has resulted in problems. I did not even receive a billing notice for November and when I contacted the office, it was "yeah, people are saying they didn't get one this month." No apology, no offer to write one up, nothing. I've also been waiting on an estimate for a simple repair for over 2 months now. I'd not heard the reasoning for the pool closure and I've got to say that's a bit disconcerting about the forced closure. Oh well, I'm on my way out of here by December, but it's looking like the place is well on the road to becoming just another annoying to deal with Austin apartment complex. A real shame.

I'd have to agree - the service and maintenance is completely lacking. I just moved out due to a flood in the unit from a burst pipe. The manager was very put out through it all and would offer no solutions. Even after being shown PHOTOS OF MOLD and a report from a state of Texas Certified Mold Assessment Consultant reporting the dangerous levels of mold and moisture remaining in the unit. It's bad when the pool is shut down, but far worse I think when an apartment unit itself is shut down and all they had to say was the mold was "my opinion." Or maybe it was the camera's opinion...

Note from original poster: Now that I have checked my bank account again this morning, the check has gone through! Thank you Amli at Lantana Hills for causing me all this trouble for NO REASON AT ALL

next time get a receipt to cover your ass in the event they do lose it. it'd be crappy if they ever do lose it, but you gotta realize they probably get people all the time saying, "i did pay, i did. i gave it to you or this person"... all the while they're lying. get a receipt.

Yup you sure are a leasing consultant. Aren't you not suppose to comment on these. AT least that's what I thought

It's funny that anyone who posts a comment with realistic information to combat your complete ignorance and stupidity automatically "works" for the apartments. Maybe you're just a moron who didn't get a receipt, ever think of that? Get a receipt. Checks are lost in the mail all the time. Get a damn receipt. If you put a stop payment on the check like they asked you to, the original check never would have been presented you fool!
