Please don't take Argosy management as typical of Americans. Most Americans would be offended by them too.
Your experience is very similar to mine 5 years ago. The office person we usually dealt with during our stay was nice up until we moved out. That is when they became unreasonable.
My opinion is that the management of this place during my stay were greedy and unreasonable. I don't know if the same people are still managing this place, but they sure act like the same people based upon the reviewer comments.
