Watch out for the bait and switch. Or at least the switch, they changed apartments on us without our knowledge while we waited for them to approve us. They had told us that we'd be moving into the exact apartmenet they showed us. When we asked to look at the new place they told us "You already signed the lease". Very aggresive tactics. If you do, or did, get bait and switched you may consider contacting the Texas Attorney General's office and filing a complaint. If they said you'd move into one apartment (i.e. that it wasn't a model) and then switch you and force you into that apt. based on already having signed a lease... that's deceptive trade friends. (Fraud!)
They ended up putting us in an apartment with new carpet, and telling us that we couldn't bring pets although we had distinctly told them we wanted to put a pet deposit on the place.
Oh yeah, one of their policies is that you have to have your blinds all facing outward. Wouldn't want to look too unsightly. Got to keep up appearances for the crackheads that are living in the motels two blocks south and steal your stereos and CDs!
Austin is such a horrible place to rent.
