Bad customer service and PROPERTY THEFT

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008

I've lived at Argosy since June of 2007. In general, this complex is definitely not the worst place to live. However, I have had multiple maintenance issues, since I first moved in, that have either been taken care of sloppily (wall repainted in an area and person left splatters and lines of paint on the carpet) or required more than one trip from the maintenance staff to resolve the issue. Also, when they were redoing the siding on the complex, nails started popping through the walls into my apartment! In short, it's gotten to a point where I'm afraid to go to the office and put in maintenance requests for fear of looking like "that tenant," which I am not. I keep my apartment very clean and always leave units in better shape than they were when I moved in.
The most frustrating/scary thing is that within the past month, myself in addition to other tenants (mainly females), have had numerous articles of clothing stolen from the public laundry facilities. This includes jeans and more pairs of women's underwear than can be kept track of. All management has done to amend the situation is put up signs in the laundry rooms telling us to stay with our clothes the whole time they are washing/drying. This isn't always possible. For some reason it is not feasible to put up the keypads that used to be on these doors or install cameras. On top of this theft problem, management claims that the machines in the laundry rooms are new, yet there have been recurring issues with their functioning every month since I've moved in. Currently, about 75% of the washers are non-functional, for going on 3 weeks now, and management can give me no time-line for repairs.
It would make some of these situations marginally better if management did not minimalize my complaints every time I spoke with them. I don't want to hear "I'm sorry, I've had clothes stolen before too," or "That happens anywhere you go" (because it most certainly DOES NOT), or "I have the same kind of washers at home and they work like that also." None of these things help me. I want to hear that management is striving to be better than other complexes and is seriously attempting to come up with solutions for community problems. It's just not worth the cost of the rent or the $500 PER pet you own to live at this place.
