Bad management

The apartment deined a look to apartment until the lease was signed. The water pipe was fixed two month after moving in (paid some of the water bill), now it is flooding again and the water bill is up.
The apartment did nothing to stop the resident upstairs from play music loud in midnight. The police sometimes stop them for a few minutes. but this is supposedly a lease terminating violation. The apartment did not send notices when they cut their office hours or rise the water bill.
No security guard. Gate always broken, sometimes with cars broken into.

I have been living here for almost a year and have experience the exact thing the the writer talks about. I was NOT allowed to view the apartment before signing the lease and when I got in, there was a horrible gray water stain 3 feet wide on the hall wall. This was from broken pipes apparently in the dishwasher (which I never used). They fixed the leak under the sink which soaked all my cardboard containers, then later came back and fixed the dishwasher. Now it smells like mildew and the carpet in the hall and elsewhere was contantly soaked and left water stains all over. I told them I was NOT going to pay for the cleaning or replacement. Also the residents upstairs spoke NO English, so my futile attempts to go upstairs to get them to turn it down proved fruitless, so did calling the manager and police. I mean it sounded like they were playing basketball up there when they weren't playing music with the patio door open to the courtyard as if everyone wanted to hear their filthy, curse ridden "music" when the "N" word scattered everywhere. They disregarded my rights, disregarded the apartment manager and disregarded the police, as soon as they left, as they guy above said, they would resume. I had to threaten to go to the Austin Tenants Council to get out of my lease until they behaved themselves. Later, now that I am moving out (primarily to be closer to my wife's work) I found out they they were evicted mainly because of my complaints (so the landlord said). Now the new ones are almost as bad. My water bill skyrocketed after the leak also, I was then told it was some sort of clerical mistake and I would get about $20 back (sometime). And they send notices on peoples doors for everything else (grammar is atrocious), but they failed to put a notice that our rates were going up on water, or an explanation that it was just a mistake. I have had my car stolen (recovered) burglarized, vandalized, and my apt broken into and had two DVRs and a videocam stolen WHILE I was there in the back bedroom asleep. If it wasn't for my dog, they probably would have stolen more. They live here. If you really want to know how bad the crime is in this area. Call the 311 police number and ask them for the Crime Report for different areas. Use Northgate and Colonial Park for the intersection and you'll get FOUR pages of criminal activity. Plus, they never informed me that we were next door to a Section 8 housing with all the crime that entails. Boy, am I glad I'm moving. This place is a 24 hour criminal field day. DO NOT move here under ANY circumstance. |
