I was a resident at this apartment complex for awhile, and from the first week I was having problems with the management. The lady was horrible, not to mention a lair with a bad attitude! Only if I knew to do my research through public records, I would have found out the serious problems people were having with the complex. They have the worst maintenance crew. Their skills at fixing your apartment are cheap and left half complete. I was constantly startled by the sensitive smoke detectors going off sporadically throughout the day. If it wasnt loud music waking me up, it was the sound of gun shots. I think the thing I had a problem with the most was the management always coming in my apartment without reason, and the numerous flyers left in my mailbox about dozens of vehicles being broken into for their radios/goodies. BEWARE these people screw you over with your deposits! If you come here dont look forward to getting ANYTHING back!

Hey, guys. I live here. This is my home! I stumbled on to this review while googling for my apartment's Web site. I just have to take issue with this review.

1. "The lady was horrible, not to mention a lair with a bad attitude!"

Re: I have never caught Estelle in a lie. She has been helpful and receptive to me.

2. "They have the worst maintenance crew. Their skills at fixing your apartment are cheap and left half complete."

Re: All of my requests for maintenance have been swift and thorough ... ? How could my experience be so very different from the poster?

3. " I was constantly startled by the sensitive smoke detectors going off sporadically throughout the day."

Re: I've never heard any of the detectors going off during the day. Perhaps the poster is referring to the every other month that the smoke detectors are checked for his or her safetly as well as ours, as indicated in the lease and required by the City.

4. "If it wasnt loud music waking me up, it was the sound of gun shots."

Re: The one time I had issue with loud music, Estelle spoke with the tenant and it stopped. Seemed the poor tenant was working 3 jobs and had her alarm turned way up because she was afraid she wouldn't hear it. The tenant turned her alarm down. No more problem. The music isn't any louder here than other places I have stayed. Maybe less, due to the extra insulation between units and floors.

As to the gun shots, check for yourself as to whether the police have reported any gun shots at this address. (I don't know how posters can get away with these kinds of libelous claims!) http://www. ci. austin. tx. us/ police/ crime information. htm

5. "I think the thing I had a problem with the most was the management always coming in my apartment without reason . . ."

Re: That's just not been my experience. They always leave a note when they have been in my apartment. They can't announce the smoke detector checks ahead of time, since each tenant is responsible for maintaining a working battery in each unit and there is a charge if the management must put in a new battery. Otherwise, there has never been any unannounced entries by any of the staff.

6. ". . . and the numerous flyers left in my mailbox about dozens of vehicles being broken into for their radios/goodies."

Re: I've only seen that information posted at the mailbox, not inside my mailbox, but whatever . . . Check for yourself at the Austin Crime information site noted above and compare to other apartments. We have it better here than other places, because we are a bit more aware here due to the management's quick responses.

Conclusion: I can't address the lost deposit issue. I am still a resident. My guess is we have a case of sour grapes by someone who thinks nothing of spreading disreputable information for vengeance's sake.

BTW: When I looked for an apartment, I researched numerous locations. When I called a locator service and asked about Austin Garden Apartments her response was that "there are chickens in the parking lots." Seems Austin Garden Apartments does not want to participate in the referral services offered around town, and are taking a huge hit in being defamed because of it. I assure you, there are no chickens, only competitors afraid you will discover what a value this is and what a charming place to live. Worth every cent and more! Probably the best kept secret in Austin.
