I would not rent from this apartment complex knowing what I know now. The previous person who wrote the review is right in everything they are saying because it happened to me also. First of all, she has charged all of my deposit money plus more for the 'damages' she claimed I had incurred. The place was in a terrible condition when I first moved in and they charged for me the damages that were already there when I had left even though it was mentioned in the inventory since the first day. Their maintenance crew had done some work in the apartment while I was there and they did a pretty lousy job. They then accused me of the ------ repairs that were done and charged me for it even though I did not even do the job. They even claimed my cat who was declawed damaged the apartment. The pool was always dirty and filthy. It was algae green for the longest time and ------- blamed it on the 'treatment' they were having done on it. You could also smell the urine coming off from the pool through your window because the pool was so poorly maintained. The personal friends of the manager had parties all the time and got away with almost anything. There were also large roaches that I had dealt with throughout the time I was there. Even a person I have known had the same problem and from what I understand, he even showed the roaches to her and she practically said to him to deal with it and have him take care of the problem himself. She said the same thing to me. I even demanded to know who the owners were so I can inform them of the on going problem, but she would not give me their names of telephone numbers and claimed that she was one of the owners. She mentioned that I was ruining her life and that I was not allowed in her office anymore because I wanted the problems taken care of. They charged me almost $1000 of the 'damages' on top of the deposit they have already taken. I left the place in a better condition than when it was first initially leased to me. There were always cars being broken into and cops constantly at the complex day in and day out because of the matter. I'm speaking through experience and I advise you not to rent from this apartment complex. All they care about is money in their pocket instead of taking care of their residents. Please I would not want anyone to go through what I have gone through, don't rent from this place! If you're thinking about it right now, just start looking elsewhere because Austin Garden Apartments is the worst place to be in Austin. The review that said "decent place to live" was written by ------- herself because she would be the only one that would know where the owner would be residing. I mean she practically knows his schedule when he comes to check on his own place. In short, just don't rent from these crooked people! By the way -------, nice lying review you made there (NOT!) that's what you're good at lying through your teeth! odusyNYCcZ7yL3Bj5JtG

Hey, man, I live here. I googled on to this review while searching for my apartment's Web site. None of this seems to fit with my experience (2003 to present). 1. "The pool was always dirty and filthy." Re: There were some INTERMITTENT times the pool had a greenish color, however, the pool has been a consistantly inviting shade of bluefor some time now, the green issue being completely resolved. 2. "You could also smell the urine coming off from the pool." Re: My apartment--and bed--are approximately 20 feet from the pool. I sleep with the windows open to hear the soothing sounds of the four fountains throughout the night. At no time has there ever been a smell of urine from the pool. When the Carolina jasmine is in bloom, however, the heady aroma is heavenly. 3. "The personal friends of the manager had parties all the time and got away with almost anything." Re: At no time has there ever been inappropriate or loud parties at the pool. The children are enchanting, as are the conversations with neighbors. 4. "There were also large roaches that I had dealt with throughout the time I was there . . . [-------] practically said to . . . deal with it . . ." Re: Only twice in the 2 1/2 years I have been here have I needed to be sprayed. The first time, ------- offered to have their pest control company come out immediately (which was not necessary, but a generous offer). There is a list posted at the mailbox. Anyone may sign up to be sprayed any time they have the need. (Perhaps the poster is young, and doesn't realize one needs to take out the trash, keep dishes and countertops washed, put food away, and vacuum and mop floors.) 5. "There were always cars being broken into and cops constantly at the complex day in and day out because of the matter." Re: The cops are not here day in and day out. I would know. I walk and ride my bicycle on the property regularly and stay abreast of most of the happenings. But don't take my word for it. Here is a link to crime, both historical and current, in Austin: http://www.ci.austin.tx. Yes, we had some cars broken into, but check for yourself the number of break-ins at 7401 N. Lamar and compare it to the number of break-ins at other apartment complexes. Austin Garden Apartments would probably come out way ahead. Why? Not only because of our gated access, but also because the management and most neighbors are aware of which tenant owns which vehicle, providing the kind of security one gets with friends, family, and good neighbors. 6. "I mean she practically knows [the owner's] schedule when he comes to check on his own place." Re: Hey, we all know Brinkley's schedule. He comes every year to check on the place and install new plants and paint and whatever. He can well afford to stay in a fine house or luxury hotel, but he stays here with us and we all look forward to his yearly visits. Several of the staff live here, also. These are people who not only put their money where their mouths are, but put their mouths were their money is! Conclusion: I can't address the poster's major concern, that is, the lost deposit and charges for damages. But I can point out that 6 of his or her 7 grievances are completely unfounded. What are the odds that the 7th grievance is unfounded too? |
