I am a young college grad who is now a working profesional. I am currently paying good money to rent a one bedroom/one bathroom apartment at a price of $675.00 per month. Of course, I was enthusiased to find that a great apartment with a great view, covered patio/balcony and central location was avaliable. The small complex size (150 units or less), and home-style appearance inside each unit is what sold me. My apartment has nice built-in bookshelves, high celings, a big kitchen with a lot of cabinetry, a big bedroom, huge closet with built-ins, and bathroom big enough for four (although it is just for me).

The management team is very nice, friendly, and professional. However, it has been two weeks, and the maintenance staff has not repaired everything that I marked on my condition form. It is simply unacceptable to hand over an apartment with rusted shower accessories, and moldy tiles. I can't even take a bath. The management assured me that they will fix it, but still, this needs to be fixed ASAP because I can not fully enjoy my apartment. I will say that the management fully replaced my carpet/and kitchen/bathroom flooring before I moved in. This was a huge plus, and shows that the management is genuine and very professional in tending to wear/tear of the apartment. My only complaint is that the maintenance staff needs to fix things sooner (for example within the same week of noted problems). I am still waiting for my bathroom to have acceptable fixtures replaced that are not rusted, and tiles that are not moldy. In additon, these things should have been fixed before I moved in, and that is not right or fair to me - who is paying big dollars for this place.

Also, if you work in Law Enforcement, or with the State of Texas, they do not offer a Major Employer Discount. I am a professional who works with the Texas State Legislature during the week, and works with a Law Enforcement entity on the weekends. I know of other tenants who were offered a monthly discount off of their rent, but when I inquired about it, they could not offer it to me despite the fact that I am well-qualified for it. They don't really negotiate. For the kind of money that I am paying, they need to hurry up and get their maintenance guy to my place ASAP to fix the problems that should have been fixed in the beginning.
