Best experience ever...

I lived at Austin Trail for a number of years, and it was the 13th place I lived at in a decade. It was, without question, the absolute best apartment complex I've ever lived at. And most of that is because of the management. Kim was the most wonderful apt. manager I've ever dealt with, and the only one who ever took the time to not only learn my name, but get to know me personally. Front desk help had a relatively high turnover rate, but they were all wonderful as well.
Right before I moved, new management took over, and they are very professional, although do not have the personal touch that Kim had. They will treat you well, and get requests taken care of, although the friendliness felt forced, and the latest front desk guy doesn't seem to be running on all cylinders. He never remembered who I was or where I lived, never smiled and always seemed to be confused.
The only other (small) negatives I can list are the fact that the front gate is always broken. It's a fantastic part of town, so that never concerned me too much, but the gate is part of the amenities, and should be treated as an important part of the residents' experiences. Also, when i first moved in, and for 2 1/2 years afterward, there was ALWAYS a Saturday brunch in the front office. Fresh fruit, donuts, cereal, milk, juices, cookies, bagels, etc. Every Saturday, no exceptions. Once the new management took over, there hasn't been a single one. Tenants would come to the office, drink some coffee, mingle and enjoy the day; now there's really no reason to go in unless it's for business.
The coffee is NEVER hot anymore (how hard can that be - again, the front desk guy doens't seem to be too aware of what's going on), and even the cookies for the potential and current residents were first downgraded then taken away. Petty things, I realize, but they were the small things and personal touches that made me love the apartment complex to begin with. Kim brought me two great-looking, slightly expensive plastic plants to help adorn my new apartment when I first moved in; something tells me the new management wouldn't do that.
HOWEVER, again I must reiterate that this was the best place I've ever lived. The apartments are a great size, very bright during the day, friendly neighbors, and very dog-friendly. Maintenance has been improved tenfold (it was pretty awful before; too much turnaround), and they will take care of whatever you ask.
The only reason I left was because I needed to move to another city; otherwise, I would have stayed here indefinitely! You will not regret coming to Austin Trail!
