I tell people "I live behind the Wal-mart," which does not do any justice to the apartments. I have lived here for 18 months, and am only moving out soon to relocate to Dalls. ---- and ------ are great, they really seem to care about the tenants.
My apartment is very spacious, somewhere around 800 sft for a 1-1, with a huge bathroom and decent closet space. We had new carpet and linoleum when I moved in, and I see them replacing it everytime someone leaves. We also have a closed in deck, which is great. The location, on the Mo-Pac frontage road, can be good (easy access to Mopac and Ben White) but also can take some guts to get out of in the morning during traffic. You can walk through the fence to Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, and other shops in the Sunset Valley area, which is VERY convienient.
All of my maintence requests have been fixed relatively quickly, with the exception of fixing the ice maker, which took a few tries and eventually a whole new apparatus to fix. I have had my bathroom re-caulked, my AC filters replaced, and many other things done within a day of requesting, which is much more than I can say for previous places I've lived.
The one downside is the noise factor. On the bottom floor, my bedroom is right next to the A/C unit and the parking lot, so theres a lot of noise that comes through there. I used to have neighbors that would play LOUD movies up til 2 am, and that was annoying, but they're long gone.
I have never felt unsafe here, and I don't recall any gunshots back in November. I come and go at many times of the day, being both a student and working at the hospital, and while you may have to park on the back side of the complex at times, I have always found a place to park, besides the whole resurfacing the lot fiasco.
You dont see many moving vans around, people seem to like it here. Overall, I have really enjoyed my stay here, and hope I find somewhere as great when I move to Dallas.

Just like you, I love the apartment complex, but boycott Wal-Mart. Sorry, everytime you spend money in Wal-Mart, you support illegal child labor and terrorism...and line the Walton's pockets with your tainted money. Studies also indicate that "lesser educated" people shop at Wal-Mart as they are ill-informed on the detrimental impact of shopping there and the in-depth study of how our global market operates. If you are educated, you would understand the theory of Wal-Mart and Globalization. I AM ACTUALLY EMBARRASED THAT THE WAL-MART IS SO DA_MN CLOSE!!! Wal-Mart is synonymous with trailer-trash, poor employee wages/benefits, and the support of illegal child labor in third world countries EACH TIME YOU VISIT. Your lovely advertisment pf the close proximity of the Austin Trail to Wal-Mart keeps classy people away, why did you have to put Wal-Mart in your post? WHY!!!??? There goes all the prospective, educated and classy residents in line to lease.(YIKES.)
I love the Austin Trail Apartments overall, just not the Wal-Mart next door!

I'm not sure what happened to you Susieblue. Were you evicted for not paying your rent? Was your neighbor mean to you? You've obviously got plenty of time on your hands, lets hear your story! What exactly is "scary" about Austin Trails? Can you please snap a photo of these gangsters you've mentioned, cause I've been living here for two years and still haven't see one. Are you sure you even have the right complex??
