Learn from my mistake, please!

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
I've lived in many apartments, some nice and some not so nice. This one was the worst by far. Management has changed a few times during my stay here, which means they're always confused about everything. I signed a 12-month lease and found out the first day in my apartment that it was a huge mistake. The apartment was filthy because not only did the previous resident not care to clean before moving out, but the "cleaning crew" didn't bother either. The bathtub was so black that it made me sick to even look at it. I spent the next 2-weeks practically nagging to get everything fixed. I ended up doing the cleaning myself after they sent two women out who didn't speak any english to clean. They were wearing 4-inch heels and only had a couple paper towels with them. Come on! Apparently they like to tell management they did clean and try to get away with not doing it. The peel-and-stick tile on the kitchen floor and in the bathroom was coming up. Took 3 requests before that was taken care of. Also, I had no hot water in my apartment and when they finally came out to take care of it, I had spent three months showering at my boyfriend's apartment already. The air-conditioning vent was leaking water on 3 separate occasions... the first time the maintenance guy told me it couldn't be fixed for the rest of my stay here because the coolant couldn't be replaced until the summer (which any remotely intelligent person would know he was blowing smoke). So I called the office and told them they better send someone else who wasn't going to lie to me and try to fix it. The next guy did know what he was doing and politely fixed it (he was my one pleasant encounter with maintenance). There is NO WATTER PRESSURE in these apartments. The sink water trickles even after they came out to fix it, it was back to being crappy again after a week. Two times SEWAGE WATER flooded my bathtub, because the plumbing here is horrible and they are constantly shutting off your water to fix it, or a pipe bursts somewhere. ROACHES/ANTS are everywhere. There were so many in my apartment, they should have paid rent. I'd kill at least 20 roaches a day after I got home from work in the evenings. After about a dozen extermination requests, setting up my own traps, buying my own sprays and foggers, the problem finally was under control. I was told by the exterminator that these apartments are so crappy that if a neighbor is dirty I could still get roaches because they crawl all through the building. I was wondering why even though my apartment was spotless, the bugs were everywhere. You have to pay a monthly water bill here... which isn't fair for anyone who lives alone. There are lots of Hispanic families living here with multiple children...I'm talking 6 family members in one apartment who pay the same amount for water that I do. They average it out and make every apartment pay the same amount. Water bill ranged from $20-35 per month. You can tell where they replaced half the dry wall because there's a buckle on the walls in my living room. When the bathroom flooded in the apartment above me it leaked down into my bathroom and was disgusting. When the guy came to fix the "popcorn" ceiling that had peeled down because of the flooding... he basically just took some white spackle and glued it back onto the ceiling. Aesthetically it looked horrible. My stove stopped working on a Monday once, and it took 3 calls before it got fixed on Saturday. Because why would anyone need to eat for a whole week' The neighbors are loud, blaring their Tejano music from there apartments at all hours. You can hear their kids romping around and banging things because the walls here are the thinnest known to man. Residents drive by with the music thumping, and the ones that live in your building park and blare their music while they hang out in the parking lot with their homies. I'm talking speakers so loud your walls shake and you can't even hear yourself think. There's a lot of honking too at 7am because they carpool to work. And I'm not talking about one honk... it's 10 honks before they get there asses out to the car, because God-forbid they get their ass out the car to knock on the door or even just make a call on a phone. There was only one cable outlet in the living room, so no TV in your bedrooms unless you want to shell out your own money to pay for the installation. As if that wasn't bad enough, my cable was stolen on a few occasions, which meant I had to call Time Warner to come out and give me my cable back from the apartment that was stealing the cable. Apparently they knew the apartment that was doing it, because it had happened a few times before. I had to take time off work, once had to spent my Saturday waiting to have them come fix it. They won't spend any money repaving the parking lots which direly need it, but every Tuesday morning they have landscapers come out at 7am and mow and trim the place... the trimmer machines are so loud that you couldn't sleep through it. They don't finish until around 10am. Tuesdays are my only day off work and I never get to sleep in because of that. The outside of your apartment always smells horrible from the trash bins being so close. My car has been dented twice from people opening their car doors and hitting my car. I don't know why I even bothered parking in the center of the parking space. A red car also swiped my car while pulling out because there is now a huge red streak on the side of my car. A girl also hit my car while backing out because she pulled out without even LOOKING any direction. This apartment has just been my death. I've never had such a horrible all-around experience with any other apartment. The carpet was new and that was about the only thing nice about my apartment. The apartment across from mine once flooded because of a pipe bursting and they didn't even bother to replace the carpet. Maintenance brought it a couple fans and said "dry it off" and went on their merry way. I'm glad that didn't happen to me. The poor guys who lived there. Solicitors are constantly knocking on your door trying to convert you to their religion, and a few times I had people knock just to beg for money. Once a guy flagged me out of my car at 2am, I was so scared, and turns out he needed gas money to get home. I could keep going, but honestly HAVEN'T I SAID ENOUGH' Please, I've only said all this to help others steer clear and not have to live through what I did. Call me a good samaritan... I hope you stay away from here.
