Best Apartment Experience I've Had

Apartments are not most people's ideal home. They can be noisy, other tenants can be trashy, and they have such a temporary feeling. But, if you're young like me, you have to "pay your dues" by living in one until the timing is right to buy your own home.

I had to live in two different and very expensive apartment complexes in California while earning my master's degree and they were absolutely dreadful places. The rent was high, my fellow tenants (lifetime renters) were rude and obnoxious, and the leasing office and maintenance staff was never around and highly unresponsive. Moving back to Austin and to BHPP was a great change.

The leasing office staff (yes, even Marlowe) are all very nice, friendly, and responsive people. Throughout the application and leasing process, they were helpful and patient and very accommodating. I have lived here about 9 months now, and have 6 more to go - throughout the time I've lived here, they have always been responsive to any maintenance issues.

The location of this property is great. You're right next to the park, Barton Springs, the greenbelt, and only a couple of minutes from great restaurants, shopping, and of course downtown and UT. The units themselves are quite spacious and mine had new carpet, paint, and appliances put in before I moved in. I can't say that I've ever been woken up in the middle of the night due to parties, loud neighbors, etc., which is very nice. Overall, it's just a pretty quiet complex.

One drawback to this place is the parking. The spaces are very odd - some are very narrow and long, some are very wide, and some of the aisles are narrow, which makes getting in and out of spaces difficult. Also, my unit backs up to Barton Creek, and there can sometimes be small bugs and spiders that find their way into the apartment in the summer. But, they are few and far between. Lastly, something needs to be done about the plumbing in my unit. Because this place was built in the 1970s, the plumbing is in bad shape - the water temperature can sometimes fluctuate quite a bit when showering.

Overall, this place is great! I highly recommend it.
