Bad Place, Rude Management, Old Inefficient Buildings

Update: BHPP has been getting worse and worse recently due to the (very, very noisy!) delivery of about 15 18 wheeler sized, huge trailers that block our view of downtown and the pool. It looks more and more like a storage facility or maybe a military base here. We are moving away and encouraging our neighbors too also. All I can guess is that these are for an upcoming condo conversion or something bad that they haven't told us about. It's pretty amazing. Now there is no place to park due to these and it looks ghetto. Goodbye BHPP!

I know someone who lives here and it is terrible! Here are some of the reasons. And the apartment office keeps having their staff write positive reviews which is interesting. I think that says a lot. Why don't they just spend their energy actually addressing these issues instead'
Here are the key points you'll want to know.
For one- Marlo, the office manager, is widely known to be rude to the residents and petty over small things. The amenities are all very much out of date, the office center computers appear to be over ten or fifteen years old and the exercise equipment is commonly broken and hazardous. Recycling is rarely collected and is frequently overflowing- near the unattractive "dumpster area" right next to the entrance. (I actually have seen the office throwing a good bit of the recycling away instead of having it picked up)
The grounds are decent, but don't let that one thing suck you in. Medve, the apt. owners, simply don't seem to care about their residents or the property. It appears to just be a business venture for them. Their website is barely online and was last updated two years ago: http://www.bartonhillsparkplaceapts.com/
These aging apartment units are from the 70's and are totally out of date and energy hogs. They all seem to have popcorn ceilings and nasty carpet. Many residents have suggested low-flow toilets and energy improvements (since we pay a portion of the entire complexes excess utility use) but the office is totally unresponsive. I am planning to upload pictures soon of the poor conditions in the complex, especially of the bathrooms and the 70's fake marble linoleum in the kitchens of some of the units. Don't get me started on the size of the flying roaches we've seen inside the apartments here. we also seem to have animals that live in the attics.
The pool area was recently remodeled, but it is only average and still is lacking a hot tub or other common amenities. The only shade tree near the pool looks like it has recently died, leaving no shade for the area there. They should obviously plant a large new one, but no progress has been made there either.
I can only conclude that the management knows these apartments are slated to be torn down in the coming years because they are not keeping them up. I would look to the many newer, more decent nearby communities before even considering living here. Many of my friends have looked here over the years and decided to live elsewhere. Thank goodness!
Best of luck in your apartment search, I just would like people to report and be aware of the condition of some of the apartments that are out there. Maybe then some improvements will be made.

I don't know what either of you are talking about. I've lived here for over a year and have never had a utility bill over $70. Maybe you should try not turning your AC down to 60 degrees. The bugs are normal for living next to the greenbelt, and is something you have to deal with...It's nature! Yes, the buildings are old and there is no hot tub, but no new complexes seem to have them anymore due to liability issues. I've always found that my concerns are handled quickly and usually same day. The only complaint I have is the jerk upstairs constantly ashing his cigarettes on my balcony.
