I applied with a roommate to move into these apartments. We were both very forthcoming on our applications, and the manager said everything was great up until the end. Then he asked about income and we're both relocating from out of state, and we were upfront about the fact that we hadn't secured new jobs yet. He said it wouldn't be a problem if we would tell him one of us was staying behind to keep working. Essentially, he told us to lie to him and to everyone else we spoke to about it in order to get an application fee out of us. And he knew that the one of us who makes the most money in our current city didn't make enough money individually to satisfy the income requirement that very day but said it would be okay anyway so we'd pay up. Well, once the income was verified to not be enough each month, he then acted like it was a huge surprise and that we had to figure it out really fast or they'd have to deny the application. I hope they're happy - they got their $70 out of us, and there's no way we can get the income situated until we move there. But at least we figured out they're morally corrupt businessmen before we moved in. Beware of the phrases, "we'll work with you", and "if anybody asks, I didn't tell you to do this." They generally mean you're about to get screwed.

I am the manager, I find it curious that Jack stated I knew how much money his partner with a job was making, and yet I had to make two calls to get that information, after they left my office. I also find it curious that at the time of this response, their application is still being processed and I am waiting for updated income information before "stealing" their $70 and issuing a 'Decilined' status to their application. We at Barton's Mill apartments, have a qualifying criteria that everyone must read, sign, and turn in along with a completed application. This document states that total income generated by the applicant must be at least three times the amount of rent per month. Now I ask you, if you don't know that your monthly income doesn't meet our requirements, how am I supposed to know this. On the same note, if you don't know that information, and we don't know that information, how is Barton's Mill morally corrupt?

Yeah this sounds like Barton's Mills alright. Hmm curious as to how this "manager" thinks he knows who the reviewer is, as they have surely done this to hundreds of people. Also, the "management" seems pretty paranoid here.
