Nice neighborhood. That's all.

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
When I first moved here, I was excited to have found an apartment in this area that was affordable and had new appliances, ample parking, and a shady lot. I now know that those are the only good things about this complex.
The biggest problem for me has been my air conditioner. I'm in a 1-1 and my electric bill is $140. I am not an electricity hog, I try to be conservative, but in summer, I'd like to keep my apartment at 78. In trying to do so, my ac runs constantly, never turns off, never gets any cooler. When I complained, the maintenance guy said "didn't I tell you we needed to clean your coils'" in an accusatory tone. Like it's MY fault that the coils are dirty. After a week, I finally called again because he never came back. He was on vacation and they wouldnt be able to get to it until next week. Meanwhile, my electricity bill is racking up and the dumb chick in the office is asking me to occasionally turn off my AC because I might be messing it up more by using it'''
There is absolutely NO insulation. In the winter, I can't sit by the window because I freeze and in the summer I cant open the blinds because it become a sauna.
My new problem is the security lights. The complex was recently bought by some company I've never heard of and they decided the tenants needed to be paying for their own security lights, so they've shut them off until the electric company can switch the bills to the tenants instead of the complex. It's pitch black. I have to slowly walk towards the stairs and feel for them in the darkness to make sure I am not going to trip. It's been like this for 2 weeks or more and when I ask about it, I'm treated like I'm irritating and this is something I should just understand and deal with. Luckily, it's a nice neighborhood and there haven't been TOO many rapes in the area. There is a coyote problem on Cima Serena, but that's something entirely separate.
Also, I can hear my neighbors entire conversations with themselves and with their TVs. There are these irritating fellers with blowers who come around bright and early to blow around some leaves. There are also sprinklers that just water the parking lot, which bothers me because it's just wasteful. I used to like the office staff, but now that there is some new chick with an attitude, I'm pretty much not finding anything redeeming anymore.
I do not recommend this complex if you plan on staying somewhere for a long time. The rent is cheap for the area, the laundry room is locked and the machines work, and there is a lot of parking, at least in my area. I've also had problems with the cable wiring... aparantly since I'm in the last apartment, I also need to deal with crappy reception. No bugs though, or at least not many. I've seen 3 roaches in 2 years and one of them was outside.
