I've been here for nearly a year, and am about to break my lease because I'm buying a house - thank God I'm getting out of here!!

When I moved in, my toilet wouldn't flush and there was no freon in the A/C compressor - these are things they should have found when preparing the apartment for move-in! When maintenance came out for the A/C, I was told I didn't have it set correctly; they set it and left. The next day I still wasn't getting any cooling, so they finally checked and found the compressor wasn't even turning on because it was so low on freon. When we had the bad cold spell a few months ago, the heating couldn't keep the temperature above 59 degrees, so I had to go buy firewood at HEB to stay warm - ridiculous! There's also no A/C/heating vent in the bathroom, so I can't shut my bathroom door for more than a few minutes without sweltering in the summer time.

The other major problem I had was that when the resident in the apartment above me smoked in his place, it came into mine through the A/C return. I complained about it for 3 or 4 months before they finally did something about it - a temporary fix that has to be repeated every so often.

They almost never answer their phone, and if they ever check their messages, they generally ignore them. I had to leave two messages and finally talk to an agent to get a message to the manager that I needed to speak to her about getting out of the lease a couple months early, and she says they don't make any provisions for such - I'm most likely going to have to buy it out.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone I wanted to help.

That sucked, go ahead and do what you have to do retain a lawyer to get yourself out this apartment complex thankfully I understand how you feel.
