So I moved here out of a really really bad apt. Naturally, I loved my first few months here as there were no serious issues. However, in last month and a half, I have had the following problems that make me hate it here with a passion.
1. They will shut off the water without notice, the notice will be severely late (in other words, you already noticed that the water was shut off, was incredibly annoyed at the fact that you cannot take a shower before work, and you left to find water elsewhere, but upon your return there is a letter saying that the water might be off), or the water will be shut off for "just a few hours." This can easily translate into all night as was the case last week.
2. The AC will mysteriously stop working. I didnt mind the vents on the floor as long as they work, but I know a lot of people hate that feature. However, I do hate the fact that when I get home from work at 6pm, it is a sauna in my apt even though I left the AC on 75 when I left. So I turn off the AC for a while, get pissed about sweating, and right before I go to bed at maybe midnight, it will work again. It is very odd and annoying.
3. I have a rat/mouse in my apt currently. Note the present tense. I am extremely clean, yet somehow it got into my pantry and despite my complaints, it was not dealt with for 2 weeks. I went out and got traps the next day, but failed to catch said mouse. After I do my part of keeping clean and getting traps, I feel that it is the management's responsibility to take care of it.
4. I walked out of my apt to go to work one day and saw a CSI truck outside my building and easily half a dozen police cars. I wanted to know if there was possible safety hazard, but mysteriously again, this was the week that the phones to the office were shut off and redirected elsewhere. convenient.
5. Finally, mainteniance is so unreliable. There is one guy who knows exactly what he is doing and does so quickly and efficiently. He also corrects the shoddy work done previously. However, I have had numerous problems and have only seen that good guy one time. This probably accounts for the fact that I have had to file so many work orders for the same problem.
Okay, so I really do have to stress the fact that they shut off the water constantly. My friend lived here 3 years prior and hated it. She warned me, but I thought she was exaggerating about the water thing. I have to say that in the past month, I have gone easily 4-5 days without water. That sucks. If you relish not taking a shower, this might be the place for you.

| I'd like to address the following: 1. We have had structural issues that caused the main line to break. When this happened, the water had to be shut down and residents were immediately notified. 2. A/C issues are taken care off immediately. Please contact us should this not be the case. 3. We have an exterminating company who treats all our units. We will make every attempt to take care of any issues you may be experiencing. 4.The CSI truck referred to was due to a domestic dispute that occurred in a unit. This was not reported to us until a week passed. We took measures to take care of this issue. 5. We always make it a point to attend to our residents needs. Should anyone feel that they are not getting the attention they need, please contact the Maintenance Manager or Property Manager. We will make it a point to take care of any unresolved issues. Thank you. | |

As a former tenant I can say that this review is spot-on about everything, even the one maintenance guy who knows what he's doing. He came by and fixed my AC and it worked perfectly for a year. Then after some routine maintenance from another guy, it stopped working again. I couldn't get the good guy back. Also, there was a really mean lady who worked in the office when I was there. She didn't give a crap about any of the residents.

I lived there from 2001-2002 and they had water problems even back then! One time, the water was shut off for 2 weeks! I also had the same air condititioning issues. Those apartments need to be demolished and rebuilt.

I lived in Gentrys Walk back in 1997, and they had water/pest issues then too! PLEASE don't be fooled by any pictures you see of this place and any of the good comments posted on this site, they are all fake and fabricated. The only reason I posted on here is because I am currently looking for an apartment, I was just telling my friend how god awful Gentrys Walk was when I was living there, and I am trying to prevent her from making a HUGE mistake! I can honestly say, that 99% of all negative comments about this cesspool they call Ventra, are all TRUE!! If you like living in slums without water and A/C and you don't mind a few bugs and/or rodents, and little bit of crime here and there, then Ventra is a GREAT place to live! Let me just leave by saying that I agree with "renehibbs78",
Someone should buy Ventura, demolish it, and build a new complex!!!

If prompt A/C repair, you mean 9 months...then you guys should get an award. Cause that's how long it took you to fix ours.

Yeah I know what you guys mean. I lived there for 2 years and it was by far the most horrible place I have ever rented in my life!! When I was moving in some guys were moving out and they said good luck trying to get things fixed here. Just like the others have said the water was always turned off with no notice given until after the fact and I know all to well about waking up or coming home with no water. One year my mother was coming for mothers day, when I left to pick her up I had water and when I returned home about an hr and half later there was no water and I had to go to the dollar store to buy water to pour in the toliets to flush the toliets.
The A/C and the heat never worked properly and when someone would come to repair things usually weeks later they would only rig it up and then it would work for about a week or less. The breeze ways were always dirty and the pool, lets not even talk about that! the entire time I lived there I never got in the pool-it looked like a breeding ground for some drug resistent disease. If you don't want to spend several months acting out a bad scene in a Horror Movie stay clear of this rat hole infested complex! If you ignore the warnings and move in you will regret it no doubt about it.
