Could be worse.

These apartments are pretty good for college students. I had an awful roommate so my situation was not ideal, but here is my review of the Braeburn.

The parking is awful. There are not enough spots for all of the residents to park at the complex. Often I ended up parking on the street, which is not ideal. Several cars were broken into while I lived there. That may have been partly the car owner's fault for leaving things in sight, but there were a few vagrants wandering around almost every time I came home or went somewhere.

The kitchen is very cramped. There is no dishwasher, the fridge is tiny, and a microwave is not provided. Good points about the kitchen, the sink is pretty big and the stove is gas (which I like and it saves on electricity in the summer).

There is no central air or heat. The living room and the bedrooms each have window units. Most people think this is more expensive, but compared to my last apartment with central air, the electric bill was tiny. A downfall of this system is that the bathroom is not ventilated.

On to the bathroom, the plumbing is bad. Our bathtub never drained while the water was running. It would just build up until you got out of the shower and then it took about 30 minutes for all of the water to drain. The bathroom sink was the same way. The water heater is gas and it worked very well, but the water pressure was like someone spitting on you in the shower. It was annoying.

The bedrooms were pretty big, but the walls and floor are very thin and you can hear everything that's going on around you. Not bad if you have quite neighbors, but I didn't.

The grounds were plain, which didn't matter to me. But the outdoor safety lighting was non-existent, and the sprinklers came on as you were leaving for 8am class.

The Braeburn is on the UT IF route, but the busses are often full by the time they get to our stop. And/or the busses all get one behind the other and all 4 pass by in 2 minutes and you have to wait 20 for another. Usually, it was faster to walk to campus, which is another advantage of living so close.

The pool was really shallow and uninviting, so I never swam in it. I can't really comment on it. The laundry room was small and dank and I would not wash my clothes there.

The apartments changed hands from the time we signed our lease to the time we moved in. The new manager was much less creepy than the previous one. When we called him, he answered or called back promptly and usually took care of what was needed.

I can't really think of anything else, but if you're looking for a cheap place to live that's pretty close to campus, the Braeburn would suffice. If you want quality, look elsewhere.
