There are advantages and disadvantages to living this close to I-35.

The Breakers is an ideal location if you're a jogger. Town Lake is easily accessible via the pedestrian bridge on the east side of I-35. This is an older complex, but it has been remodeled fairly recently. Maintenance is very prompt and the managers are courteous. The weight room is small, but decent for days you can't make it to a gym. There is a treadmill, a cycling machine, and a stepping machine. There are about six other weight machines, but no free weights. When you sign your lease you have to sign a "critter addendum", which gives the complex permission to rid your apartment of coons or other animals that may get in your walls or ceilings. I have lived with a critter in my ceiling for the entire time I've been here. Pest control has been several times, but Ranger Rick seems to elude them. If your unit faces Riverside you can hear the noise of the highway, and if you're near the front gate you can hear the announcements from the metro bus which stops right outside (the UT stop is about a 5 minute walk away). Two or three times in the last year, management has left notes on front doors describing apartment and auto break-ins, and asking residents to be careful. (Hey, it's right by I-35, what do you expect') I've never heard voices, music, etc. from other apartments, just occasional footsteps overhead. The entrance wall is not as well-insulated, and you can hear everything said outside your door. Parking is not a problem, although the spaces to the left of the main entrance are too narrow for most cars. Everyone just ignores the lines, though. The security gates seem to be out of service several times a month, but they are repaired promptly. The two pedrestrian gates don't always latch when people walk through. The grounds are well-kept. Water pressure is phenomenal. No low-flow environmentalist effects here. I've never used the laundry facilities, but I didn't have that option to choose from in the star-ratings with this review. Overall, this isn't a bad place to live, but you have to weigh the pros and cons of being so close to I-35. 3mPoZ6gGN6wTPgNi4L2C
