Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004

I moved in to Stonebrook, as it was called then, in 2002. The carpet was very stained, the walls had been painted with no tape so there was paint all over the floor and cupboards, the bathtub and sink were also severely stained. I had a terrible ant problem the whole time I lived there. They were in my food all of the time. Supposedly someone came to spray every Monday but despite the fact that I asked for him to come to my apartment each week, no one ever sprayed the entire two years I lived there. Maintainence kept turning off my air-conditioner unit outside and my cable box (on accident they say). Burners on my stove did not work and were never fixed. While I was gone on vacation, someone went through my apartment. I noticed because my fire extinguisher was gone. Why someone broke into my apartment and stole my fire extinguisher, I don't really understand either. I moved out Aug 04 and it took until May 05 to get my deposit back. I called all the time and they would say it was in the mail, or that I needed to talk to the person in charge of accounting. This person was always in a meeting, or on vacation, or just left for the day. She obviously did not exist. It took calling the district attourney to finally get my deposit. I guess they just expect people to give up, but for me it was the principle of the thing. In two years I had never paid my rent late, and the apartment was in exactly the same shape when I left as it was when I got there. All in all, it was a cheap apartment so you definately get what you pay for. It wasn't safe or clean and office staff was a joke. If you can afford to live somewhere a little nicer, I suggest doing it.
