I'm currently leaving a luxury style apartment in the same locale as Camden LR to search for something cheaper. My apartment is 860 sq feet, 1-1, for $800 per month. It has all the luxuries of a modern apartment, including walk-in closet, garden tub, stone tiling, washer/dryer provided in unit, modern appliances including microwave all matching black finish, gated entry, movie theatre on site, fitness center, pool tables and shuffle board room, pool and hot tub....

I searched the area for something under $800 and stopped at Camden Laurel Ridge hoping to get a cheaper rate for a smaller room and older complex. $950 for a 1-1! Only 650 sq feet, very old inside and out, appliances included in apartment are extremely outdated, pool and hot tub were okay but also did not appear modern in style (not to mention the bright orange color of the buildings is just so horrid, that should be a $100 discount in itself, or so I thought).

I would love to live here for the convenience of the neighboring stores but I can't justify spending the same amount I would spend on a downtown luxury condo. No doubt older residents who are locked in have great rates, but new residents are getting slammed with overpricing. If prices drop, I'll be back to look again since I like the area, but otherwise I'll spend my money on an apartment that is priced accordingly.

$950 for a 1-1, 650 sq feet
$800 for a 1-1, 550 sq feet
Administrative fee $200 per person
Application fee $50
These prices accurate as of March 2008

I've been a current resident for about 8 months now and I pay way less than that. But their prices change constantly based on demand and when I signed my lease the 550 sqft was more expensive than the 650 sq ft. Right now even, the 650 is going for $695. Unfortunately you just have to catch em right.
