As you have read, there are numerous problems with 1007 South Congress. I only mention a few...

1. Noise. People walk loudly and run in the halls and talk loudly late at night to each other and on their cell phones (the drunk dial on the cell phone is particularly enjoyable).

2. Parties. This is mostly due to the fact that over half of the residents are students, who seem to unfortunately overwhelm this complex. Most of them are drunk several nights a week.

3. Relationship disputes in public. In fact, we have had to call the police on a few occasions since moving here in October. One call was for a very serious altercation involving a man who was beating on a neighbor's door and window and threatening them over some cheating incident -- like I care, at all. It was a highly uncomfortable and completely annoying situation as this was on a week night. The guy was most unstable -- we were not about to intervene.

4. Animal control. People let their dogs piss and crap in the hallways. Idiots. Lazy morons. This is disgusting and completely unnecessary. This is not a third world apartment complex where such things should be tolerated -- that shouldn't even be tolerated in the third world for God's sake. What the hell is the matter with these people' Management has done NOTHING to control this behavior. It is not acceptable. Also, someone on the side of the complex facing the downtown skyline likes to dump their cat box into the yard near the fire lane. Also disgusting and very unsafe for pregnant women.

5. Noise again, although this is more chalked up to shoddy construction. Slamming doors. It seems very few people understand that the apartment doors slam and rattle their neighbors' apartments if they do not attempt to slow the doors down or gently close them on their own.

6. Moving times. Someone moved into the apartment next door from approximately 8 AM until midnight recently. They were somewhat quieter in the late hours, but not much. Very noisy and disruptive during the day. Management, and I'm not sure who that is exactly, should consider restricting moves to certain times.

7. The "security" gates. Do they even work anymore' It's been quite sometime since we've seen them closed late night. What's the point of having them if they are open all the time' Anyone can waltz into the complex -- like the gentleman mentioned above. Pointless.

We generally like the apartment, the views and the location. The maintenance crew that works here is also very friendly and helpful.

With that said, however, we will not be staying beyond our initial six month lease as the items mentioned above seem to go unnoticed by management.

I also concur with the comment about the people that work in the leasing office. Sometimes quite rude and generally clueless. Sometimes they are nice, but it is rare.

This place is lame. Stay away.
