mold in my apartment

This place is a total nightmare. I thought the apartments were cool, but when we got ready to move in they stuck us in an unit that felt like the back of the woods...when i walked onto my patio all I see was a fence dividing me from a mess of trees and it was always littered with trash. The apartment always had a dark and dank feeling. I made the most of it...but what made me the most miserable was the last couple of months when our dishwasher/sink was leaking. It took days before maintenance came out, but the problem was never fixed. It leaked so bad that some days when I got home, there would be huge puddles all the way up to the front door. It literally looked like there was a flood in the apartment. My roommate and I continued to put in maintenance reports. They came and went...problem never solved. It got so bad that mold started growing on the walls. I complained to the office stressing about the mold...a month passed...no one ever came to fix the problem. I lived with the mold for over a month and finally moved. My sister called me the other day saying that a collection agency called her and said I owed $1000 for the apartment...how is it fair that I owe money for living in an apartment that refuse to solve my mold problem''
