This place has had 4 fires recently. My building burned in mid July. No smoke detectors went off at all in the entire building. The only way I knew the place was on fire was because I heard the fire engines outside. After the fire, the staff was rude and unsympathetic. They still won't let me out of my lease, even though the building is uninhabitable. They only let me back into the place to get my stuff during sporadic periods...and usually made me wait for about an hour or two before I could go get anything. I had to drop my classes because of that.

The last fire here started in a friend of mine's apartment about 2 or 3 years ago. There was faulty wiring in the air conditioner. She sued Canyon Oaks for $30,000 and won.

The moral of the story is...you may think you are getting a bargain at Canyon Oaks. So if the fires don't get you, and you can stand having non-woking appliances, leaks, roaches, noise, crime, and no maintenance what so ever....then hey, maybe it is a bargain.
