Lousy Place

Don't believe the extremely positive reviews, "this place is god's gift to students" because staff is obviously writing them.
The power was out for 2 days right near a heavy week for midterms. Castilian said that it would be back on but it kept getting pushed back because the incompetent 'electricians' were like woodpeckers by cutting holes in the staircase walls and ceilings aimlessly looking for the electrical problem. They encouraged residents to stay at Castilian or live with people on campus in other dorm rooms but offered a motel room for a third option. First off they encourage people to stay in a powerless facility or you can go live on campus in someones else's dorm room. Dorm rooms are already too small for 2 people. How is an extra person supposed to live there' Is there a hidden bed that pops from the ceiling' The THIRD option was going to the ghetto Howard Johnson motel that was the cheapest rate they could find, but heck it was still better then Castilian. They could have been smart and found a place where people could take the bus to and from campus instead of carpooling. Castilian intentionally made people carpool to discourage residents from staying there in order to save money.
The food is terrible unless you get something from the grill that way you know the food is actually prepared that day and not left over from who knows when. The staff knows the place is bad but they have to create this image of some nice place so they don't get let go like one RA's did during the middle of the semester.
Rooms are extremely small; the desks are actually nice sized though. Water was either scorching or cold. Microwave had popcorn butter stains from years ago. Power plugs are conveniently hidden behind the furniture making you shuffle everything in order to plug something in. Surprisingly I thought the bed wasn't to bad for a twin but hitting the blinds in the middle of the night and waking yourself up isn't too cool. Apogee internet is only okay if you get the premium which is a ripoff, go with roadrunner. As to be expected the halls are extremely noisy and many are inconsiderate at around 2 am. If your in the bed closest to the window, hall noise reduces drastically along with flushing sounds, but the morning sun in your eyes is always fun.
Elevators are smelly and slow, the new management is supposedly replacing them. I sincerely doubt they will replace them anytime soon, because the place is in use all during the summer unless they replace one elevator at a time.
