*This review is about the Century at 710 E. Dean Keeton (like the other one).

While it is true that the complex is very convenient to campus for students, I just want to warn people it probably isn't worth living in the borderline sluminess.
First, most of the units are extremely outdated, though there is a wide range as some units are slightly more updated. But a number have appliances and fixtures that probably date from the 1940's when I'm guessing the place was built. I think the foundation for the entire building is cracking. There isn't too much of an insect problem though some fly in from the bamboo area, but a number of units have rodent problems. One neighbor's unit had black water, and I'm sure the pipes haven't been replaced or fixed in ages. If you do move in, I highly suggest you don't drink the water. The pipes often drip onto the underground parking area so be careful where you park. And speaking of the parking area, it can be pretty difficult to navigate under there and alot of people park illegally or use old/borrowed passes during school days because of the close proximity to school so it can be difficult to get a spot. The washing area is down there too, and is pretty awful with a couple usually broken machines. Homeless occasionally live in there or behind the building in the park.
As for the owner, most of my neighbors and I did not have a particularly good experience with her like the other poster. She is only prompt with repairs when it is convenient for her. And be prepared for her or her husband to barge in anytime and try to do everything themselves on the cheap. Once she finds out you're leaving, she treats you about as well as the complex looks. The rent is not terribly expensive for the area (roughly 700's for 1br), but it is way more than it should be for the conditions. Furthermore, expect to be outrageously gouged on your utility bill because the landlady supposedly submeters it out and sends you the bogus bill which ranged from 50 to 120 a month. The number seemed to be pretty much at her whim, and might go down if you complain about it.
I think that pretty much sums it up. Try one of the other complexes in north campus if you want to be close. I don't think they can be too much worse.
